When we act together, we create hope for our future.
We asked YOU—people from around the world—to share your #HopeForNature with leaders at UN Biodiversity COP16.
THANK YOU for joining us in such numbers to urge them to honour their promises to protect and restore nature 🌍💪
EU citizens demanded a strong law to protect forests.
The EPP:
Led negotiations,
Voted for it,
Celebrated it.
Two years later, right before the law kicks in, EPP:
Wants to delay it,
Wants to create loopholes,
Makes a huge mess,
Calls criticism "fake news."

Dutch young journalist @OmeBender was reporting on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans when one of them approached him and “warned” to stop filming.
The Israeli fans can be seen in these videos, carrying steel pipes and throwing stones at homes.
Kan Europa stoppen met Amerikaanse import als Trump Parijs opblaast? Asking for the planet 🔥🌍🔥

The gaslighting of Palestinians is unbelievable. Whilst the North of Gaza is ethnically cleansed live on our screens, the headlines are focusing on football hooligans in Amsterdam.
‘Traumatised’ Maccabi Tel Aviv fans arriving at Ben Gurion airport from Amsterdam singing:
Ole ole, ole ole ole
Let the IDF win & fuck the Arabs
Ole ole, ole ole ole
Why is school out in Gaza?
There are no children left there!”
feel like I'm losing my mind over this Maccabi-Amsterdam story
all the media literacy in the world means nothing when the biggest news orgs are reporting a version of events that simply didn't happen
🚨1/ This New York Times piece is wild. Let's go through it.
Firstly, the lede is an emphasis that attacks in Amsterdam were based on antisemitism, yet it cites no evidence of this, but DOES cite evidence of anti-Arab chants.
We’re not in the last days of democracy, but we are perhaps in the last years of it - if those remaining leaders who care about democracy and human rights fail to work together to defend them at every turn.
In the EU, which is founded on these principles, most leaders have been undermining these foundations for years: helping Orbán and other authoritarians inside, empowering other authoritarians outside, denying the fundamental rights of asylum seekers, sending arms to a government committing atrocities (ie, Israel), etc.
They’ve weakened the very concepts of democracy and human rights so much, that now, even if they want to preserve what’s left - a big “if” - they’ve made that job so much harder.
How can you now defend the concept of universal human rights, when, for example, you’ve been sending people to places where you know they’ll be tortured and sending arms to a government you know may use them to commit more atrocities against civilians?
To defend democracy and human rights, you need to have at the very least a commitment to the concept of individual human dignity. At every opportunity, you should support it, use it as the starting point of your decision-making.
If you try to “muddle through”, sometimes respecting fundamental human dignity and sometimes not, it will come back to bite you: you’ve weakened your own foundation, you see your house collapsing around you.
Principles are consistent, or they are nothing.
