In this Dangote vs UNION issue, the most foolish ones are the ones who from nowhere, without knowledge of the genesis of the issue say “PENGASSAN are forcing people to join their union”
Again, I repeat PENGASSAN are not forcing anyone to join their union, but if you join their union they will fight for you till the very end, and that’s what they are doing.
And I am 101% with them.
Seun: The single act of shutting down oil and gas supply, don't you think, is taken too far, considering it would hurt the economy?
...and this is some kind of private interest that can be taken to court?
PENGASSAN President responds in this tweet....
Aliko Dangote is the one sabotaging the Nigerian economy. Nigeria gave Dangote a single licence to import flour, sugar and salt.
Dangote built his refinery with our money; the Nigerian government subsidised FX for him to build the refinery, Festus Osifo, PENGASSAN President, alleges.
#PoliticsToday
@DangoteGroup Stop changing the narrative and allow Nigerian workers to join the Union of their choice. The whole drama will stop as soon as Dangote allows workers to associate freely as the case rightfully applies across the industry.
UNION didn't sabotage Shell.
UNION didn't sabotage Chevron.
UNION didn't sabotage Total Energies.
All this and more are private businesses in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria, the union didn't sabotage them, now all of a sudden unionism will sabotage Dangote Refinery. I hate the daftness of an average Nigerian.
I see Dangote PR trying to run an agenda, making it look like unionism is being forced on workers, but that is simply not true. The reality is that the staff themselves approached the union, and over 1,000 joined on the very first day.
In what seems like an attempt to intimidate them, management distributed internal forms asking workers to declare whether they had joined the union or not, hoping they will be scared and not sign. surprisingly, over 900 proudly ticked “YES,” while some, understandably fearful, didn’t tick at all.
The very next day, the refinery withdrew the staff buses, and by evening, they went as far as firing all the staff under the guise of “reorganization.”
So let's be clear, nobody is forcing anyone to join a union. These workers are voluntarily standing up for themselves, and this action explains why they needed to do that.
PENGASSAN Orders Immediate Gas Supply Shutdown to Dangote Refinery
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members to halt gas supply to Dangote Petroleum Refinery with immediate effect.
In a letter signed by the General Secretary, Comrade Lumumba Ighotemu Okugbawa, the union accused the refinery management of disengaging unionized workers and embarking on a “mission of misinformation and propaganda” instead of engaging meaningfully with the union.
PENGASSAN instructed all its branch chairmen, particularly the NGIC branch, to ensure that gas supply to the refinery is cut off without delay. The directive also includes shutting all crude oil supply valves to the refinery and halting all loading operations for vessels headed there.
The union described the action as a necessary response to protect the constitutional rights of workers to unionize.
“Injury to one! Injury to all!”
“Come and work for me but leave your right at the gate”
This is literally what Aliko Dangote is saying, and Nepo babies are here defending it because it is their way it is their methods that’s how they see it.
You that is son of a poorman with everything to lose continue joining them.
PENGASSAN demanded the immediate recall of all terminated workers and gave Dangote Refinery an ultimatum to comply, warning that failure to do so would trigger full mobilisation of its members nationwide.
“Let NUPENG do their worst”
“NUPENG yen yen yen yen”
“NUPENG has been crippled even if they go on strike nothing will happen”
You see DSS interfere to help resolve an issue, your brain should tell you how serious it is, if NUPENG goes on strike, you go feel am like mad 🤣
