@BenSteiner00 Mexico def not happier. Very few actually thought Canada would get past Morocco. Mexican's were confident they could take England at the Azteca.
@4SharkFour And yet we aren't. Nor are FIFA. Nor are any of the teams that played here (everyone loved it). Nor the fans that attended (rave reviews). Its been a lovely tournament. I've enjoyed each city's lovely venues. Does being miserable to us make you feel better?
@jamessharman@footy_prime All the shade came from trolls and people who exist to shit on Toronto. Every report I read from people who attended games was glowing.
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing deal sending Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, 2 first-round picks, 1 pick swap and 2 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN. A return to Canada for the Raptors champion and two-time Finals MVP.
@GongR1ght Rage bait posts by bots and trolls farm engagement on this site. That's the way it works. That's the way it's currently designed to work. We all just fall for it endlessly.
@SeanBean_90@danriccio_ Historic, yes, for sure. But it doesn't have the David vs. Goliath or grudge match vibe that would make it iconic like beating Mexico in 2021 on route to qualifying for Qatar 2022. Just my opinion. Still super psyched for the team of course!
@JeffVeillette If Canada played Portugal in Ro16 how many bars on Dundas West would be pro-Canada? If Canada faced England I'd be hoping Canada put on a good show, but lost. That's inherited stuff. 40+ years of watching England at tourneys. Not easily replaced by 5 good years for CMNT.
@CaseyToGo How do you figure? Because the team didn't ultimately win a WS? It still represents a moment when Toronto sports was coming out of a nadir and this home run released such an amount of built up futility and tension as to almost blow the roof off the dome. So a pretty big deal.
