There are a lot of reasons why Sasha's chase scene in Urban Legend is so memorable. Tara Reid is perfectly terrified while also serving an iconic look. The score is a blast. But I think an underrated reason is just how beautifully it's shot.
Heartbroken by the death of Jamie Blanks. We've chatted a number of times in private and he always made sure to prop up people he worked with, and has some amazing stories about making his movies. He had time for everyone, especially horror fans. A good, kind man. RIP
Parker projects the swagger of someone who wants to dominate every room he enters with his leather jackets, open collars, and necklaces. It's a flashy, slightly sleazy styling that indicates arrogance and bravado, and his certainty that there's no danger afoot is his undoing.
๐งต I love fashion in horror movies. I love how it builds character, hides motives, enables stunts and behind the scenes tricks, and creates memorable images and scenes. Here's a thread on the fashion of six main characters in Urban Legend (1998):
Sasha is perfectly accessorized for her on-air sex guru persona. It's bold, sensual, and performative, meant to stand out in a crowd. Of course, the party outfit allows Tara Reid's cleavage to dominate the screen as she screams and runs in one of the film's most enduring scenes.
I've found some pretty great fanart of Urban Legend over the years. I love this one that imagines Sasha as tighter friends with Natalie and Brenda and accompanying them to Stanley Hall to "wake the dead" @BlanksJamie
This is a cool bts look at @BlanksJamie and Tara Reid at the frat party in Urban Legend. Looks like they're talking about Sasha's fateful devision to leave the safety of the party to go to the radio station. Girl has had enough of her drunk boyfriend for the night.
