It’s a very common orchid species in traditional gardens in Colombia because of its inflorescence, it's full of tiny yellow flowers. This species is easy to confuse with other three species (C. diodon, C. porrigens and C. umbonatum) which are present in Colombia and Ecuador.

Cyrtochilum murinum is an orchid species that can be epiphyte o terrestrial, and can be found growing from 1700 to 2500 m.a.s.l. in Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

The male has a beautiful long tail that resembles a racket, hence its name. The female, undoubtedly beautiful, has a white belly with beautiful white feathers as if they were boots in their tarsi.🍃

The incredible #hummingbird Booted Racket-tail inhabits (Ocreatus underwoodii) the Andean mountains from 1200-2600masl. This one presents sexual dimorphism, which means that there are differences that allow you to recognize the male and female.
