Adviser generated learning events of impeccable quality, with emphasis on DB Transfer and Drawdown financial advice, and focusing on technical insight.
IFA or actuary request please. Does anyone have a copy of the Hazell Carr ‘Pension Review Bible’ from 1994? Also, a copy of the 1994 “Pension Transfers and Opt Outs Review of Past Business Part I: Statement of Policy” by The Securities and
Investments Board (SIB)?
Regulate paraplanning to stop next British Steel scandal, says IFA https://t.co/6Q7eOSMQhE I confess I find the idea of broadening regulation terrifying. It would take @TheFCA years to define a paraplanner. Just make advisers responsible
Pension transfer volumes have increased by 20% year on year between 30 June 2018 and 30 June 2019 through the Origo Transfer Service. https://t.co/5q1Y2yo9xo
I was just sent this. It’s only now that some steelworkers are realising just how heavily their transferred funds are hit by needlessly(?) high costs and charges (before any adverse performance). Transfer advice needs clear explanation and careful reflection, not cheesy retail.
Normally, IFA love to tweet “Hey, I’m on BBC Radio 4 MoneyBox Live at 1200.. check me out guys!”. We may imagine listeners will beat a path to our door. But, hey, I’m on BBC Radio 4 MoneyBox Live at 1200. I want you to listen but I don’t want to be your IFA. And here’s why.
Train hard fight easy. Get the difficult stuff right and the rest comes naturally. Debating pension transfers and drawdown specifically and an advice process generally, carries over into every sphere of our professional being and standing.
As Elliot wrote, there was “a collective vow to never again allow anything on this scale to unfold.”. A year on, I ask what has changed - and the scale then was nothing compared to what may yet unfold.
If you want to be there, respond ‘ticket’, they are free. And please share.
By way of another reminder, this is Elliot’s piece from 2018. Then, we had the men of steel on stage. Today, I’m chatting with three women of steel. Supportive over the years, resolute and dignified in their adversity, they are entitled to their say.
