I think PM Mark Carney's gov't has been doing an awesome job so far, but if he doesn't wade in on this & stop the proposed construction, Ontarians will be seriously pissed with him & his gov't. We are sick and tired of our tax $$$'s being pissed away to enrich Ford's mafia pals!
$200 million for a parking garage.
$200 million for a PARKING garage.
$200 million for a PARKING garage?
$200 million for a PARKING GARAGE?!? 🤯
What are we even doing here, people?
A province where ER rooms have wait times in excess of 24 hours, OSAP loans to college students been slashed and transferred to shady private career colleges, where teachers being laid off, schools being closed, where wait times for long term care homes is a decade long, our premier is building a Garage Mahal worth $198 Million for a private company (which was bankrupt) whose 99 year lease is secret.
Welcome to the Canada's conservative model of governance.
The RCMP announced a Greenbelt investigation in 2023.
It’s now 2026.
No charges. No public update. No explanation.
Ontarians don’t need a particular outcome.
We do deserve transparency.
What’s the status of the investigation?

28 prominent Torontonians, including Margaret Atwood, David Mirvish and Hayley Wickenheiser, signed a letter demanding the federal government halt any changes to #BillyBishop airport until the city's residents are properly consulted.

If @MarkJCarney Liberals sign on to kill the beautiful Toronto waterfront skyline & islands with this useless, unwanted airport expansion which will cost ON taxpayers billions and whose main benefactor is an AMERICAN BANK every single T.O. lib MP should lose their seat!!!!!
@vgasparro@MarkJCarney extensive environment assessments have been done already. I suggest reading this one done by AECOM that continues to do work for Billy Bishop Airport https://t.co/XvnirwnMnn
Been feeling bleak for the past week after I read an essay saying the market for middle-grade books has collapsed because kids can no longer read them. Two long-time publishers of middle-grades have shuttered, with more to come. We don’t appreciate what a crisis this is. +
@DrAswinSolomon@EricTopol Canadian, so luckily, not currently applicable to me, but would those early predictions also put people at risk for not being able to get insurance in places like United States?
.@CanadianPM@MarkJCarney seems to think that he can let this bailout of American investment bank JP Morgan happen and Doug Ford will suffer the blowback, but he’s flat wrong.
The @liberal_party can stop this madness now. Failure to do so means the Liberals will wear it forever.
JP Morgan, one of the wealthiest banks in the world, made a bad deal and overpaid Porter for the terminal. How do they recoup from a bad deal?
JP Morgan bought an entire govt for itself, hired an army of ex-Liberals, Conservatives and NDPers turbed lobbyists and seized the airport from city. Big money will do big money stuff - buy govts. Once we lose control of our critical infrastructure, it will inevitably be owned by JP Morgans of the world. Most likely Middle East petro states. And that will erode our democracy. Just as JP Morgan did in this instance.
Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and Minister @stevenmackinnon,
Consider the message you are sending by the way you go about your public consultation. Toronto deserves a serious conversation about these serious matters, not tokenistic consultation-washing of a pre-determined outcome.
Here's what we know about the Billy Bishop expansion. It involves:
▶️ Filling in the lake for a 900 m runway extension
▶️ Destroying a portion of the Toronto Islands
▶️ $5 billion dollars to be paid by us through taxes and passenger fees
▶️ Reduced housing in the eastern waterfront
And the only one pushing for the expansion is JP Morgan, a Wall Street bank that began lobbying the Ford Conservatives & Carney Liberals a year ago.
Is that not enough to stop it now?

J P Morgan does a bad deal in 2015.
A decade later, their lobbyists have found an audience in our Premier. So aware is he that Toronto residents do not want a dramatically expanded waterfront airport, one that would undo billions of dollars of investment in restoring fragile urban habitats in The Port Lands and erode the walkable, vibrant urban neighbourhoods we have spent decades building, that he has chosen to force through legislation to seize control and override local decision-making.
When is this jig up?
Now that we know, we know.
As a neurologist, it is now patently clear to me that the vast majority of people on the planet are suffering from neuroinflammation or brain damage (likely both)
The way people speak & behave has changed. Markedly so.
Whether irl, or via messaging/social media. It’s noticeable
“How did people write essays before ChatGPT?”
You all are young, but there was this thing called doing research, staring at a blank Word document, thinking, writing, rewriting, suffering, and persevering.
"It is obvious that the intent is to privatize water in Ontario, and this, as we know from countless international examples, is a disaster in the making."
Avi Lewis responds to the Ford government’s move to strip municipalities of control over water infrastructure, handing it to newly created water corporations.
BREAKING: 7 SESSIONS!! Doug Ford was present for in one year.
I know as well as anyone how much work MPs and MPPS do away from legislatures but this is still outrageous.
