Grassroots supporters of North of Tyne Mayor, Jamie Driscoll and his campaign to become Independent Mayor of the wider North East Mayoral Combined Authority
One hundred days in, Reform-led councils have banned non-Union flags, reversed climate-action, cut green energy and scrutinised library content—symbolic moves, little substance. How are any of these policies addressing our real issues like welfare, the NHS, housing?
Left-wing and right-wing are blunt terms. We need to get beyond them and talk about evidence, or we descend into tribalism. My article in @TheCanaryUK.

Need a favour Twitter/X people. Been off the platform for a while. Just started posting again but getting literally zero engagement. Am I being punished for my absence?! 😂
If you see this post, could you give it a quick like or comment? Thanks good people!
I went to my local climate and public transport hustings last night. Labour, Tory, Reform didn't turn up. The SDP climate skeptic spoke about the 70's sitcom the Good Life. As my 18 year old son said, “Well, that was entertaining in ways it probably shouldn’t have been.”

This is so incredibly dangerous from @JonAshworth - recycling racist narratives on asylum seekers & indulging in dog whistles about people from the Indian sub-continent. Send them back. How absolutely shameful. Glad I left.
Happy birthday to my favourite person and the real leader of the people. Let's celebrate his birthday by getting everyone to #VoteCorbyn

The General Election coverage has already descended into trivia. Ooh, look, Rishi Sunak got wet. Keir Starmer keeps saying “change” a lot – what does that mean? Almost no journalists are asking how either of them will improve the lives of the working people of Britain.
I will be building a network of North East independents. People committed to democratic accountability, high standards in public life, and putting working people first. Including those not paid for their work, unable to work or retired from a lifetime of work.

The polling stations have closed and the voting is over.
It’s been an incredible few months.
Thank you to the hundreds of activists who have pounded the streets hour after hour, to deliver 400,000 leaflets. The army of online supporters who spread our digital messages across social media. The 6,000+ people who donated to our campaign fund. The organisations like Green New Deal Rising, We Deserve Better and the RMT who gave their time and money for a cause they believed in.
This was a people powered campaign and I am in awe of your energy and commitment. Whatever happens tomorrow, we can all be proud of what we achieved.
There is still a huge appetite for pragmatic transformative policies that reduce inequality and treat people with respect. We are the majority and we’re not going anywhere.
When he was running to be leader, Keir Starmer told Jamie Driscoll he wanted to create a culture where people worked together. Once elected he banned Jamie from being a Lab candidate
@MayorJD isn't standing to represent Keir. Hes standing for the the NE. Vote for him if you can
Vote @mayorJD for North East Mayor this Thursday.
The polling shows he’s 2 points behind Labour - and the Tories are nowhere, so there’s no risk of them winning.
Tell everyone you know in the North East!

.@UKLabour and @KiMcGuinness if you’re going to try and win an election with lots of paid advertising, at least be truthful with the public.
The North East deserves better.
Electoral commission and advertising standards have been informed.

The Establishment is finally waking up to how tired people are of a two party system that never seems to benefit them.
In the North East, there is an alternative.
We’re now only 2% behind in the polls and that’s closing fast.

I’m disappointed that Labour and @KiMcGuinness are stooping to lies, using data from the 2019 General Election. The latest polls say it is a “dead heat” between me and the official Labour candidate. The Tories are toast – polling just 11%.
If @UKLabour are having to use underhand tactics like this, it shows just how desperate they are.
No wonder no one trusts Westminster parties. It’s time to put the North East first.
