@arnab_bunny I’d fall in the “frequent reader” category and 100% agree. I only read a book in a day if I have a ton of free time (e.g., interstate Amtrak trip) and the book is either short or unchallenging. Nothing wrong with book-a-day, but it requires a specific lifestyle and type of book.

I think my significant chronological and regional distance from the 70s/80s Latin American literary scene was part of the issue — at times it reads like inside baseball
