A follower is not proof of loyalty—it is often proof of hunger. The sheep imagines safety in being led, while the wolf imagines dinner in the same arrangement. Numbers deceive. Crowds cheer when you rise and gather closer when you fall, not out of devotion but to feed on your ruin.
Understand this: in every shadow trailing your steps, there is not admiration, but calculation. Some follow to learn your path, others to steal it, and many to sabotage it. The naive celebrate attention; the wise dissect intention.
So measure your worth not by who walks behind you, but by who would bleed beside you when the knives appear. Followers inflate your vanity, but allies preserve your survival. The lioness chases as closely as the disciple follows—the distance is the same, the purpose is not.

Modjadji Royal Family challenges Masalanabo’s recognition as monarch
The Modjadji Royal Family has launched a legal bid to overturn President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to recognize Masalanabo Modjadji aged 20 as the rightful monarch of the Balobedu Queenship, arguing that she lacks the essential knowledge of traditional customs required for the role.
In papers filed at the Pretoria High Court, family members, led by Masalanabo's uncle and former regent Mpapatla Modjadji, contend that the 20-year-old princess is unfit to succeed her late mother, Queen Makobo Modjadji VI, who passed away in 2005.
President Ramaphosa formally recognized Masalanabo as Queen Modjadji VII in December 2024, marking the first official acknowledgment of the Balobedu Queenship under South Africa's Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act.
The core of the dispute revolves around the revered Rain Queen tradition, a centuries-old matrilineal lineage among the Balobedu people in Limpopo province, known for its mystical association with rain-making rituals.
Mpapatla Modjadji asserted in court documents that Masalanabo "has not been educated in the customs and taboos of the royal family and in the usage and secrets of the rain medicine," rendering her disqualified from the throne.
This claim highlights deep divisions within the royal family, where succession has been contentious since the death of the previous queen, with Mpapatla serving as regent during Masalanabo's minority.
The application seeks to review and set aside the president's decision, potentially reopening debates on how traditional leadership is certified in modern South Africa. No hearing date has been set yet, but the case has drawn attention from media outlets, with recent reports emphasizing the cultural significance of the Rain Queen's role in Balobedu heritage.
As the matter heads to court, it underscores ongoing tensions between governmental recognition and indigenous customs in preserving South Africa's diverse traditional monarchies

Sophisticated tunnel heist hits FNB branch in Germiston
A group of robbers carried out a daring and meticulously planned heist at the FNB branch on Victoria Street in Germiston on 22 April 2025 leaving authorities stunned.
The suspects reportedly tunneled into the bank, with the point of entry believed to be from a nearby Nedbank property. Investigators found damage to the floor of the neighboring building, suggesting it served as the launch point for the underground passage.
Once inside the bank, the robbers used industrial grinders to breach two safes, escaping with an undisclosed sum of cash. In a further display of precision, they managed to disable both the CCTV cameras and the alarm system, effectively covering their tracks and delaying detection.
The Germiston SAPS and forensic experts, led by Warrant Officer Sehlangu, swiftly responded to the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. However, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the heist, which has raised concerns over security vulnerabilities at financial institutions in the area.
