@ERshitmagnet Finally, Not very many Perfusionists in the US compared to other professions. Small community. We know each other or know someone that knows someone. Observations & when she gets in clinicals, every interaction is an interview. Lots of jobs are won /lost on private phone call.

@ERshitmagnet Confidence. Eye contact. Firm handshake. Lots of behavioral & nonverbal cues used to assess. Applications / applicants are through the roof in past few years. Very competitive. Make sure she continues to observe cases right up to interview.

@ERshitmagnet Perfusion and RN are NOT the same. I am in awe & amazed & impressed by RNs. A fair amount of nurses fail at perfusion. She needs to be able understand & articulate differences & that she will need to shift her mind set to be successful. No dig on RNs just not the same!

@ERshitmagnet Have a full understanding of what Perfusionists do. Doesn’t need 2B a master but show understanding what a day in the life looks like. She understands & can articulate oncall, stress, that death & poor outcomes are a possibility & the weight & responsibility Perfusionists carry

@ERshitmagnet Be prepared for why. Honest answer but also needs to show them that she knows about the profession. Keep in mind that they hear these answers from hundreds of people. Prepare in her mind past real life situations and encounters that she can use as examples for scenarios based ?’s

@Gabby_Brauner27 They are trying to form a connection & made the effort to look at the badge. Make the connection & go with it. Get over the title. Patients everywhere are heard saying my Dr told me to call them by their first name. I love them! No one ever said I love that they make me say Dr.

@RNSuperHero Of note… if placing a finger spo2 probe anywhere but the finger, accuracy & precision specs typically become null & void. YES, a number may be obtained but it may not be accurate. Some spo2 & NIRs also have the ability to get a number from overhead lights (same wavelength).

@ERshitmagnet I have seen this as well 🤮. When confronted (a surgeon) said well I’m just walking down the hall to wash my hands for surgery. Srsly?!
