@WelcomeToTheGIK@zoroisloml I mean, in the US most of the poor non-Hispanic kids with barebones equipment were just playing basketball instead.
It’s not for a lack of pure childhood passion for sports, just different games and different cultural associations to specific games.
Anything from Shein and Temu is made of actual toilet paper and people donate it to thrift stores so I have more difficulty finding the good stuff amidst all that JUNK. Even some “luxury” brands are cutting on quality, it’s a plague
I’m not really against it for regular moral superiority reasons so much as the fact that they’re really poor quality and not even that much cheaper in the long run because of how often you have to replace the clothes from there.
@SonicBoomer247@taipan168 It’s sort of a brutalist commie block deal I guess, you get (relatively) affordable housing at the cost of aesthetics. I will say that they need to start handling the car issue and adding more green spaces though. Like. ASAP. Also the street cats are somewhat overpopulated
@SonicBoomer247@taipan168 Also if the municipality guys in my area STOPPED TRIMMING THE TREES EVERY TIME THE BRANCHES GREW OUT AND STARTED PROVIDING SHADE. It defeats the point of trees!!!
@SonicBoomer247@taipan168 The only issue for me is that the cars make it feel cluttered and loud, if Athens heavily restricted vehicle presence like Paris has been doing it would genuinely be paradise (at least in my opinion)
@TheRitualDiv@lunasnowgroupie Love ittt, one time in Chicago we had extreme snow and wind in the middle of October (maybe like 5-6 inches in one night + the trees had SIDEWAYS ICICLES) and then it just melted?? And stayed at normal crisp fall temperatures again until “true” winter came about two months later
@TheRitualDiv@lunasnowgroupie Now THAT is true, it’s the windiest city with a population over 1 million in the US + the weather is very erratic so you get to play hopscotch between hot and cool instead of enduring the same form of muggy bullshit for weeks in a row.
@TheRitualDiv@lunasnowgroupie I will say though that the very HIGHEST humidity levels in London are 5-6% higher than Chicago’s highest, which could lead to a higher risk of something akin to a wet bulb event on some days of the year.
@TheRitualDiv@lunasnowgroupie Chicago’s right next to a huge lake though, so they’re getting humidity from there.
I checked the average humidity between the two and they actually have similar average humidity (69% for Chicago and 72% for London), plus Chicago gets both hotter and colder temps than London.
@lunasnowgroupie Then again Greece isn’t technically considered Europe Europe (what people are talking about when they say Europe) and it’s like the only European country that uses a crapton of AC so idk pfft
@lunasnowgroupie Are we sure Chicago is a good comparison?? The summers are miserable and humid as shit over there. Only solace is that most places have central AC (except the public schools lmao).
I’m in Greece now and summers are only somewhat worse because the temp is so high + sun so bright
