She can be a bit shy at first but she soon comes around. She loves other dogs, is great on a lead, gentle and calm ♥️

Tom is another hunting dog left with untreated leishmania.
He was already in bad shape when he arrived. His skin was bad and his kidneys were strained.
He’s been treated now and is doing much better ❤️
Tom loves playing with a ball and bringing it back. There is no stopping him.
He’s a strong hunting instinct, always looking for birds and things to chase so this should be kept in mind.
He’s very friendly, sweet and good with other dogs!
Who will give Tom a home? Isn’t he handsome? 😍

Luna is another victim of the hunting industry in Spain.
Not of use? Throw them out.
Luna is 5.5yrs old and is quite shy but coming along well here at GDS.
Luna is good with other dogs, gentle on a lead and is looking for another home.
A proper home this time ❤️

Lupa is yet another hunting dog that was abandoned when too old.
Yes, she’s 12yrs old and now looking for her forever home.
Lupa sleeps a lot but when up and about is quite active.
I wouldn’t say she’s a plodder like some 12yr olds, she wants to sniff and run around.
She would definitely have the energy for plenty of adventures yet.
Lupa can get a bit protective over things like her bed. She can just give a gentle grumble.
These things are always hard to figure out in a kennel environment but when in a home I wouldn’t be spoiling her too much too quickly. Perhaps a tendency for some resource guarding.
Lupa is loving, wants to be loved and needs her forever home.

A hunter gave his podenca to a charity because she was no longer useful.
She has diabetes and almost died.
Aren’t the hunters lucky that the protectors are here to just clean up?
Protectora Animales USKAR didn’t feel they could cope with her case long term and asked us for help.
To be honest a dog like this that needs such close monitoring, injections at the right time etc needs to be in a home. How to find a dog like this a home?
Well we have a wonderful home in Scotland for her ❤️
Lauren, a great volunteer of GDS and perfect dog mamma. However in Scotland vets bills for these cases are not cheap and insurance will be difficult.
Can we work together to get Furia to Lauren and with a supply of insulin, a vet visit in hand and general support? 🙏🏻❤️
Lauren absolutely does not expect this but we know it’s a struggle and we really would like to make this work.
If you feel Furia is a worthy cause, we are looking to raise 1000 euros for the transport, blood glucose monitor, supply of meds and a vet visit on arrival.
No obligation to donate. We just want her in a home asap and we can make it happen 🩷💪🏻

The box of chocolates arrived frightened and missing their mum.
Now they are starting to come on. Their diahrea is clearing up thanks to Flagyl and we are on the right track again.

Barnaby is 6.5yrs old and was a longest stayer at a perrera in Toledo.
We took him out in hope to find him a home but so far we’ve not been successful.
He’s absolutely adorable, great with other dogs, good on a lead and just calm and fabulous.

Lupa was left at Protectora Animales USKAR at 11yrs old.
Now 12yrs she’s struggled to find a home.
A 12yr old shouldn’t be in a kennel.
She doesn’t look it does she? However we have the original passport. I might have doubted myself.
Any chance of a share? Can we get her out quickly? She’s adorable ❤️

With 16 leaving yesterday we don’t like to see empty kennels unless no dogs need help ❤️
Well that’s not the case yet!
So we went to help another shelter with the galgos they are struggling to re-home to see if we could make a difference ❤️

It’s that time of the week to see some of our lovely rescues living their best lives!
At GDS we heavily advocate that our dogs wear GPS or an AirTag or android equivalent.
Nobody thinks their dog will get lost and then when they do everybody has to pull together to find them.
A GPS means you know where your dog is and can find them back quickly.
Every week people contact us about their lost dogs. Not only no GPS but not even a name tag which cost 6 euros.
I honestly don’t understand it. If you adopt a dog, keep them safe in the sweet life.
They deserve that!

Lauren is a new young girl that was found on the streets. Brought in by Marcelo, he really wanted to keep her but work didn’t permit.
Not surprised as she’s really adorable and loving with people.
At first she was a bit scared of silly Wallaby but now they are besties.
For Lauren tho it’s all about the humans ❤️

Potato is a fabulous greyhound with Irish tattoos.
He was imported to Spain by a hunter and then left at a refuge.
It’s a bit odd as they obviously pay money to get them yet so many Irish greyhounds are showing up in shelters right now.
His personality is just nothing but perfection.
He’s wonderful ❤️
Sadly tho as with so many dogs right now he came up with leishmania positive now making his chances of re-homing much slimmer.
He’s been treated and he’s thriving. Imagine being out and about with this handsome man… absolutely stunning!
