Just letting you know that after many years of participation on this ostensibly public forum, I am leaving.
In my opinion, @elonmusk has commandeered, for his own purposes, a place where humans were once free to speak for themselves.
X is not where I want to be.

Well, this is just great. For months I've had a troupe of thespians booked to carry out a few much-needed scenes around my house. Now my kids are demanding I come up with a string of funny but moving soliloquies - by tomorrow morning!
Thanks SAG!

Gray asked me to sit. 'We received a signal,' she said. 'This morning - from #Resilience.' She squeezed my hand. 'Final distress.'
My birth ship. To all 32 kids born within her hull, she was our Other Mother. 'How far out is she?'
'Too far, Lars. She's gone. I'm sorry.'

Each return visit it happened. Walking between his mother's home and the centre of town, a sensation, desolate and crushing, would descend - a despair that here, civilisation, like a long-awaited batch of #brownies, had emerged misshapen and burnt from a smoking oven.

@NathanJonesBook @amrsaleh1996 It makes a sort of sense if you abandon notions of universality and instead see art as the product of a specific culture. For instance, if you stand back and describe Western culture, you begin to make sense of the art of Western culture.
@NathanJonesBook I assume we're talking Western art here, which is gauged along secular, post-enlightenment guidelines such as lauding individual (competing) artists - as opposed to artists expressing on behalf of their culture.
Which is why we make so much crap.
@EngineerDiet @NathanJonesBook I used to be a professional photographer. Within a couple of years of my images being pinched and reproduced by companies or individuals online, I gave up trying to chase them down. It's simply an ungovernable, labyrinthine environment.
@NathanJonesBook As a yardstick, this scenario might be useful:
You slave over a short story and enter it in a competition. Judges praise your entry but award 1st prize to a story you suspect, but cannot prove, was written by AI.
What then, is the future of your own creative writing?
