10 years since this young promising footballer collapsed in a Schoolboy football match. Still feels like yesterday. The call. The rush to UWI. “He’s gone.” Dominic was 18. Captain. Bro. Only child of David and Aunt Denese.
He would have been 28 now. Wow. What would he have become? Husband? Father? Coach? Leader? We’ll never know. His teammates, friends and colleagues still carry that empty space.
The pain for his parents has not eased. An only son taken in minutes on a football field because there was no ambulance waiting.
Some protocols improved. Many venues still leave our young ballers exposed.
Are AEDs and ambulances now guaranteed at every game? Are the boys screened for the heart conditions that took Domz? When the next player collapses, will we be ready?
Rest easy, Domz. We still miss you. We still owe you better.
@Sxne19iv2@tajkeng the talent in this team alone puts them top 4 nations in the world right now, so having them as a World Cup favorite wasn’t far fetched. This is with or without Ronaldo
@TheImmortalKop@uncle876 you expect him to pick the ball up from the half and dribble through the field to score?? He’s a creator, the attackers ahead of him gave him fck all to work with.
