For the last 12 days I’ve assisted as a team lead for a #GetOutAndVote campaign in a state that is not my own, walked 116.1 miles (and counting), endured 30F with 40mph gusts, rain, nearby gunshots & incessantly adhered to COVID-19 safety protocol. Did YOU vote today?

I don’t regret refusing to bully others online or do I question the legitimacy of my anxiety. Be extra mindful of your own limits. Today’s world is like no other; you are allowed to be scared or overwhelmed. But don’t allow 2020 to alter your morality or respect towards others.

@DireHeartbeat I’m only speaking of Twitter/social media. I’d never question if you were racist or hateful, ever. And that’s the root of the problem. Very real frustration is not justification for ignoring basic human decency and rational thought.

@DireHeartbeat We butted heads so often in the past. And I’ll be the first to admit I often acted poorly because social media rewarded the wrong behavior. Of all my friends, for YOU to question the system is huge, and I’m very proud of you for doing so openly.

@DireHeartbeat I get called a fascist because I stood up for my mental health. I will let my (very very long) history of fighting hate speak for itself and not take it personally. But it’s hard, frustrating and certainly not as easy as just giving in. But making real change is rarely easy.

@spectrumfox I wish I could provide a better alternative, but not identifying inherent flaws in what we are doing would be personally something I could not live with. But I also can’t be around this environment because it’s not good for my mental health. Hope it at least starts a debate

I care about black lives so much I question how, during a pandemic, anyone could support an action that will absolutely lead to real and actual black deaths. I believe every single reason why you must protest is legitimate and share the same frustrations, but people will die.

But this is how I personally save black lives. Leaders need to regroup and find a way to fight that won’t clearly kill more people than the evil it protests against. Love you all. Please be careful.

And to ignore how clearly a single event, even with PPE, causes huge spikes in both transmission and deaths, we are literally killing people, directly or indirectly. If you ignore that this is a different world right now, you are criminally negligent. I wish I had an alternative

@Kanicshep I don’t want credit. But if anyone thinks I’m a fascist, this is further proof that we as a society are unable to process sensitive subjects well because social media has conditioned us to act now, think later. All I do is fight for equality, but can’t sacrifice health anymore

I stepped out the last few days because it was important for me to try and give some perspective that someone who let social media and the hysteria and the poor behavior of others for the same reason, ruin his mental health, can have. And it’s clear doing so was not smart.

@Kanicshep But if I deserve any credit, the same person thanked me for being a leader just moments before he turned. I couldn’t offer him the help he needed and I was dismissed. That’s problematic of a greater issue, not me

@Kanicshep I will not contribute to petty name calling as I expect this person is, but I will be happy to address the issue in private. The person needs help and I hope he receives it soon.
