Eli Lilly is spending billions to push Reta through trials. With no guarantees on the ROI.

They are also in a court case against the FDA to get Reta assigned as a biologic or a drug.

The molecule has 39 alpha amino acids and 2 non-alpha amino acids.

The FDA says that’s 39. Lilly says that’s 41.

If Lilly wins, Reta gets classified as a biologic. Compounding pharmacies can’t touch it. Lilly gets clean market exclusivity.

If Lilly loses, Reta is a drug. The compounding market can potentially make it during shortages, just like semaglutide and tirzepatide.

This isn’t a wild bet. It’s a calculated play for exclusive commercial rights to one of the most powerful weight loss drugs ever tested.
