The head of America’s most infamous hate group, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), has told Al Jazeera that support is up ahead of the US midterm elections because of the current political climate.
But how relevant is its message in 2026?
Al Jazeera’s Phil Lavelle reports.
The system is cruel and cold. Your guy dies and your first move is to get soldiers to barricade his house and force his funeral to a cousin / aunt’s house
(and not his own) because you need to ensure the loot at his place doesn’t get nicked?
Even having a Tanzanian president offering to send her personal aides (soldiers/ mercenaries) to help protect it. WTF.
The whole time his body is cold in the veld (not that it feels it).
This guy gave anything for selfies with you but you are treating him like a disposable piece of shit.
Btw he was a piece of work. But damn show some loyalty.
Anyways. 🚮
🔸This employee at Kudenga Farm where the crash happened narrates how when they arrived at the scene, the bodies were still burning. There were no fire brigade or emergency services personnel in sight so they had to get water in a truck from the farm to put out the fire. How come there was no Marondera Fire Brigade to attend to this emergency? Why did ambulances have to come from Harare?
The uncomfortable truth is that the victims of the crash were failed in every way by a broken, I dare say non-existent, emergency services system.
When will political elites learn that you simply cannot “VIP” your way out of a broken state system that loots money meant to be invested in public services? When will places outside Harare like Kariba and Marondera get their own services working?
When the masses raise these concerns, it’s not out of spite or to attack you. Rather, if you listened instead of declaring war or chanting 2040 as a slur, you may actually save your own life.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of my friend, Wicknell Chivayo, together with his wife, Lucy Muteke, and the other lives lost in the helicopter crash in Zimbabwe. Their sudden departure is a painful loss to their families, friends and all who knew them.
Wicknell was a dear friend whose warmth touched many people. I will remember him for his friendship, his energy and his deep conviction in the possibilities of our continent.
I convey my deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives, to President Mnangagwa, the people of Zimbabwe and everyone mourning this tragic loss. May God grant Wicknell, Lucy and all those who perished eternal rest.
I have spent this morning reading more about Xi Jinping and the major policies he has pursued for the Chinese people.
Whilst I obviously abhor the one party state system of China and its very poor human rights record, it is pertinent for Zimbabweans to note his approach to corruption within China, his “Two Mountains” environmental policy (which stresses that green hills and clear water are preferable to mountains of gold), and his “Chinese socialistic rule of law” programs (which tackle amongst other things corruption within the judiciary).
Xi emphasizes the "Two Musts" (Communist Party members must not be arrogant or rash and must keep their hard-working spirit) and the "Six Nos" (members must say no to formalism, bureaucracy, gift-giving, luxurious birthday celebrations, hedonism, and extravagance).
One can confidently state that most of the ruling elite in Zimbabwe would not last a day in leadership or influence under President Xi.
Dear Wicknell,
Thank you for your generous words about my professional work and for your kind acknowledgment of my wife. I appreciate your recognition of the dedication with which I discharged the briefs entrusted to me.
My wife and I have carefully considered your announcement and must respectfully decline the vehicle and both cash gifts.
For clarity, we last spoke in June 2024, and I have undertaken no professional work for you since then. The historical work to which your tribute refers was performed in my professional capacity and paid for in full. My remuneration was for services actually rendered.
Your announcement came as a complete surprise, without prior notice or discussion. Given the distance that has developed between us since our last conversation, the substantial nature of the gifts, and their express connection to past professional services, I must approach this gesture with particular care.
Zimbabwe’s Legal Practitioners’ Code of Conduct requires us to preserve our integrity, safeguard our professional independence and maintain public confidence in the profession. The International Bar Association’s principles and the International Commission of Jurists’ writings likewise emphasise that a lawyer’s professional judgment must remain independent and free from conflicting personal interests.
Applying those standards to these circumstances, I consider it necessary to decline benefits that could reasonably create a perception of personal financial obligation extending beyond a concluded and fully remunerated professional engagement. My wife and I attach great importance to preserving both our professional standing and public confidence in our independence.
The independence reflected in your generous tribute is a responsibility I must continue to uphold.
Please receive our decision in the respectful spirit in which it is conveyed. We appreciate the generosity expressed and your acknowledgment of my past work. Our decision is nevertheless firm: we will not accept the vehicle or either of the cash gifts.
We wish you well and trust that you will understand and respect our position.

WE HAVE SEEN THIS DANCE BEFORE
Before Meghan Sussex, there was Princess Diana.
The British press turned Diana into prey while palace briefings, authorized interviews and a bitter war of narratives fed the appetite. Charles concentrated on repairing his image while the mother of his children was ripped apart publicly.
Diana later died in Paris while paparazzi pursued her car. The 2008 inquest found that the alcohol-impaired, grossly negligent driving of Henri Paul and the pursuing photographers caused her death.
Charles did not cause that crash. But the press played a part, and Charles knows exactly what can happen when the media turns a woman into a target and never lets up.
He knows because his sons walked behind their mother’s coffin.
So why the fuck is he feeding that same machine now?
The King’s letter about Prince Harry and Meghan was supposedly “clarification.”
Clarification of what?
Nobody thought they had become working royals again. Nobody forgot the Sandringham agreement. Nobody needed government officials, military leaders and the media reminded of their status six years later.
Why was that letter necessary? What exactly are Charles and the Palace afraid of?
The Times reported that the intervention likely followed requests from Prince William, although that has not been publicly confirmed. If William played a part, the question applies to him too.
Are they afraid of competition? Attention? Or the public realizing that Harry and Meghan can show up, support charities and create real impact without representing the Crown or charging taxpayers for royal duties?
Maybe people will compare the work instead of the titles. Maybe they will ask what public money actually buys.
William increasingly appears to share his father’s institutional insecurity: nobody can be bigger than me, nobody can overshadow the program and everybody must remember that I am next.
The Palace sent its letter, and the press understood the assignment.
“Slapdown.” “Warning.” Finally, somebody had “put them in their place.”
Then the damage moved beyond headlines.
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s military chief, announced Uganda was withdrawing from the Invictus Games because it would not participate in anything lacking the King’s approval.
That was Kainerugaba’s interpretation, not an order from Charles. But where is the King’s urgent clarification now?
Where is his concern for the wounded and sick service members losing an opportunity to compete?
Do not give me another fucking wreath, uniform or staged photograph and tell me how deeply the monarchy cares about veterans. The Palace’s message helped somebody conclude that supporting Invictus meant opposing the King.
Then came another emotional-support poll.
YouGov surveyed 5,810 adults in Great Britain, not the entire United Kingdom. The largest group, 45 percent, answered “don’t know.” But uncertainty does not support the fantasy of national rejection, so the headlines pretend “Britain” has spoken.
This all comes back to Charles.
He failed Diana as a husband. Now he appears willing to let the same press culture devour his son’s wife while treating Harry’s pain like an inconvenience.
His mixed-race grandchildren are watching their parents be publicly “put in their place” by an institution led by their own grandfather.
Does he care?
I cannot answer what is inside Charles’s heart. I can only judge what he repeatedly chooses to do with the enormous power in his hands.
He chose the Crown while Diana was drowning. He is choosing the institution while Harry fights to protect his family. And he remains silent while Meghan is treated like prey.
History will judge the husband Charles was, the father he became and the grandfather he chose to be.
And no crown, palace letter or emotional-support poll will be able to clean that shit up for him.
The Mercator vs. Equal Earth map debate is pretty simple:
Mercator preserves shapes and directions, making it great for navigation—but it massively exaggerates land near the poles. Greenland looks almost as big as Africa, even though Africa is ~14x larger.
Equal Earth preserves actual relative land area. That means Africa and South America look much bigger, while Russia, Canada, Greenland—and the U.S., especially Alaska—look smaller.
Mercator isn’t “wrong.” It was designed for navigation, not comparing country sizes.
Want to understand how big countries actually are? Equal Earth wins.
Want to navigate? Mercator wins.
