JB took five players from Team Jordan (six if you want to include the Jeters) and created five pairs of Retro Highs with each player’s PE logo on the tongue. With the mix of nubuck and leather, the pack was met with mixed reviews. And not just this pair, but the entire collection. This pair was probably the least seen besides the GS-exclusive Maya Moore pair, and to me it was also the least liked of the bunch.

Looking back, I think this pack was ahead of its time. Today, player exclusives have become such a huge part of sneaker culture, and collectors appreciate the stories behind them a lot more than they did back then.

Honestly, I wish Jordan Brand would revisit this idea and do it again with OG Highs. Yeah, we’ve gotten player-inspired retros over the years with the Mays 10s, CP3 12s, Melo 13s, and Jimmy 6s, and even the lows over the last few years… but I’m talking about true OG Highs. Let the athletes pick the colors, materials, and little details that represent them, then release those pairs for the fans.

Imagine what today’s Jordan Brand roster could create. Luka, Jayson Tatum, Zion, Paolo, Rui, Bam, and the rest all have their own style and stories that could translate into incredible OG Highs. I think it would be a great way to connect fans with the athletes while giving collectors something that feels unique instead of just another retro colorway.
The focus is love!
