@kalithandabie Agreed. Hence the need for leaders who are highly principled and yet also thoroughly pragmatic-- with the prudence to discern the hard boundary and the skill and inventiveness to use the full playing field within that boundary.

@kalithandabie In the context of specific individuals, the solution is straightforward if not always easy: saying No. When larger social norms (e.g. the value placed on rankings, the increasingly utilitarian concept of school) are overtaking the ramparts, the answers are less clear.

@kalithandabie Well said, Kalith. At the same time, preserving mission while remaining market-viable can leave schools, whether chasing prestige or not, navigating narrow paths. What families and donors seek, consciously or not, does not always align with the education a school aims to offer.
