Welcome to The Show, Rudy!
Toronto is calling up outfielder Rudy Martin Jr., who is expected to make his debut after 12 years in the minors, a source tells ESPN. Martin, 30, was taken in the 25th round of the draft -- which doesn't exist anymore -- in 2014. Played indy ball, Mexican League and, now, MLB.
San Francisco Giants announcer Mike Krukow will retire after this season, ending a 36-year career in which he and he best friend and former teammate, Duane Kuiper, formed one of the best broadcasting duos in baseball. For generations of Giants fans, Kruk is their voice of summer.
I mean, come on.
How often does your sporting team cut away to commercial, only to show a live shot of your team’s stadium and surrounding city view that looks like something out of a movie?
@OracleParkSF is simply the best there is.

On this day in 2012:
Pablo Sandoval delivered one of the greatest performances in World Series history, hitting 3 home runs in Game 1 of the World Series to lead the San Francisco Giants to an 8–3 victory over the Detroit Tigers

13 years ago today the skies opened at 3rd & King as the Giants finished off a game seven trouncing of the Cardinals to clinch the NL pennant on their way to the World Series title.
More good times soon, Giants fans
Logan Webb's season is done. He's the first Giant to lead the National League in innings and strikeouts since 1944, and he finished as the MLB leader in innings for the second time in three years.
Patrick Bailey, the best pitch-framer in baseball, won his first Gold Glove Award. He's the fourth Giants catcher to win a Gold Glove, joining Buster Posey, Mike Matheny and Kirt Manwaring.
Blake Snell has done all of these things in the last month. Just an insane run:
- 5 shutout innings, 1 hit
- 7 shutout innings, 1 hit
- 6 shutout innings, 2 hits, 15 strikeouts
- No-hitter
