@atTheTrack7 So, Dan Patch’s record - “never lost a race in 52 starts” - is smoke and mirrors. I hope all the drivers go out there and give 100%. If not, let’s hope the stewards have something to say about it. Beau Jangles and OOMM should both be trying their hearts out.
Beau Jangles versus Odds On Mr Mamba in the second Pepsi North American Cup elimination at Mohawk on Saturday night. Eliminations can be problematic - see Allegiant in Elitloppet - but this clash overshadows the Belmont Stakes for me.
@atTheTrack7 Like Dan Patch, right? Never lost a race but was beaten in four heats if I’m not mistaken. Is Beau Jangles still unbeaten if he loses his heat but wins the final?
Fifteen new species of Mozambique dung beetles have been discovered, according to the BBC.
BBC reporter to the dung beetle scientist: “How did you name the new species?”
Scientist: “I named them after my friends.”
I’m confidently predicting he now has 15 fewer friends.
I’m still three weeks away from being cleared to drive anywhere but I’m delighted to say I’ll be back calling the races at Mountaineer on Sunday night and to welcome the legendary Patrick Valenzuela on the Northern Panhandle phase of his illustrious career. Many thanks to Bill Downes and Jimmy McNerney for holding down the fort in my painful absence.
