Why does Northern Beaches Council want to increase rates by 39.6%? This can only be caused by bad management. Someone needs to be dismissed. Is it the Councillors or the Administration. When you vote at the next election make sure you vote for someone who understands finance.

In the year to 1800, 95% of the world’s population lived in poverty. The introduction of capitalism saw poverty reduced to 5% by year 2000. We now find poverty is rising, due to Govt handouts, bureaucrats pay rises & Govt overspending. Govt overspending soon creates more poverty.

Many years ago, I was an independent Councillor on a local Council. I would not accept any benefits from anyone, I always paid my own way. To my horror, I have seen many politicians freeload. I thought State & Federal politicians are on a full salary. Stop the freeloading.

My view is that any politician receiving free upgrade with Qantas is a bribe. After waiting more than 70 years, I have now travel in business class, but I paid the full freight myself.

Before you can occupy any new dwelling, you must obtain an Occupation Certificate. Before 1 Mar 2018, if you occupied a dwelling for more than 12 months Council could not require an OC. Now we have many houses siting vacant because the final documentation has been delayed.

Negative gearing. I have done a straw poll & found that 8 out of 10 people, have no idea what negative gearing means. How many politicians understand it? If the Labor Govt abolishes negative gearing, people who are renters will be the people most affected.

We are being overregulated. This is resulting in an increase in the cost of living. When a government introduces more regulation, they need more public servants for administration & enforcement. There has been an increase in Federal public Servants in the last 3 years of 21,000.

The Building Commissioner has done a great job in upgrading the Multi Storey Buildings. We now have Roll Royce standard buildings, but what about the people who can only afford a Holdens. The Building Commissions upgrades have added another 10-15% to building costs.

@SenatorCash How honest are our politicians? the members of the labor Govt are up to their eyeballs with the CFMEU. Is it bribery & corruption it is in mt book. Do labor members accept this as normal behaviour? They need to be deregistered immediately.

@SenatorCash The Labor Govt will do nothing, Tony Burke will call for an enquiry with no set date to be heard. They will hope the problem will go away. There will be no change until a change of Govt. Until you have had to deal with these types, & sent broke, you do not really understand.

How to solve the housing shortage
Development approvals of Class 1a buildings should be determined by Council within 40 days or else they are automatically Approved.
When building commences, if minor variations occur, they should be acceptable & given retrospective approved.

The government seems to be determined to continue with increasing the cost of living, by increase Govt wages including politicians. Governments have no money they are only spending our money or re-cycle taxes we have paid. How can we change the system?

Planning controls, do they add to the cost of buildings? One Council now requires a new dwelling to have waste & recycling bins included in the kitchen. The external house bin storage must be screened from the street, as well as ramping from the area to the street verge, no step.

With Politicians and Govt Bureaucrats getting pay rises, no wonder our cost of living is on the rise & the number of people living in poverty is increasing. One must question the ability of Politicians & Bureaucrats to manage finance. I would not let them manage my finance.
