@DrSturg Though Nielsen is the most trusted rating system, their margin of error is 1.5 (on a scale of 10) and with ratings typically ranging from 5-9, many of the weekly rankings are likely incorrect/out of place
@DrSturg Arthur C Nielsen was an engineer who looked at measuring audiences in a scientific way and revolutionized the industry, founding Nielsen Holdings in 1923
@DrSturg Telephone recall studies rely on participants remembering what they watched/listened to at certain times in the previous days. This provides inaccurate measures because people may not remember what they watched, may recall incorrectly, or may make up an answer.
@JulioDragonetti @DrSturg I also like the idea of branded emojis and stickers. I see it as an effective way to integrate a brand into the user's experience but not be too obvious and "corporate" #SturgChat
@DrSturg A5: WhatsApp was used to get voters aged 18-22 engaged in politics and I think its an effective way to get involved. If a messaging app can help reverse a historically low figure such as young voter turnout, the possibilities are just beginning! #SturgChat

@DrSturg A4: Pros: Of all major social media platforms #Twitter is the most text-based platform so pulling text/sentiment data will be easy
Cons: Twitter data is limited due to privacy settings and Twitter is not as widely used as other platforms so the sample is specific #SturgChat
@DrSturg A3: To me, data scientists create tests and look for trends within big data, while media analysts look more closely, present the story behind the numbers and are responsible for communicating these insights in a digestible way (simple language, visuals, etc) #SturgChat
@DrSturg A2: I keep up with #DigiDay because they offer daily updates on the worlds of digital advertising and marketing, and often include information on the role analytics played in the strategy and performance of a campaign/case #SturgChat https://t.co/6sVTfyLLbZ
@DrSturg A1: Analysts need to be aware of the client's capabilities in order to properly provide recommendations from the insights they collect. A client who has a high capacity for change will have more opportunities than a client who cannot greatly alter their situation #SturgChat
@kstansberry After today's discussion (and always) I'm so proud to be a media analytics at @ElonUniversity, one of the only schools in the nation that allows students to study such an exciting and optimistic field 😌 #ElonCOM460
@kstansberry To anyone who wants to have a career in #mediaanalytics I suggest you first have an understanding of stats & a proficiency in #Excel. Not that the majority of #dataanalysis occurs in Excel, but its a good platform to become familiar w/ common language layout & tools #ElonCOM460
@kstansberry Any company that wants to be competitive in today's digital age should consider themselves a media analytics company. Because if you are a media company that does not analyze your data and modify your practices accordingly you are not likely to succeed #ElonCOM460
@kstansberry I believe the biggest challenge for the #MediaAnalytics industry currently is that some people have negative attitudes toward their data being used with regards to privacy and ethics. It is up to us to show the benefits of analytics, and that #BigData ≠ #BigBrother! #ElonCOM460
@kstansberry I am most excited that media analytics is a growing field and that every year more companies realize the importance of data/data analysts for the growth of their brand (especially with the emergence of digital advertising and social media) #ElonCOM460
@kstansberry@elonuniversity Hi, I’m PJ Collins! I’m a senior media analytics and strategic communications major. Excited to learn more about the industry and interested to hear what my classmates have to say 🤓 #ElonCOM460
