Here come the cuts to health services. If we didn’t have to service the looming stadium debt, we could keep some of these vital services. What say you Tas Labor? #politas https://t.co/ipee9ZoWta
Grossly misleading! When you take into account inflation (currently 4.6% pa), population growth and demographic changes, Tasmanians will experience a significant degradation in health services because of these budget cuts. #politas
Intentionally dishonest again. Just like when he said he was sending us to an early election over “the Budget”, despite his senior staff member openly admitting it was a grab for power.
Here is the health budget, which increases every single year. #politas
The govt has decreed that over $190M pa will be cut from Health - around 2,000 jobs. That will see many services degraded. But who decides which services get the chop? Not ministers - they’ve got no clue. Middle managers in the department will make the tough decisions. #politas
@BrianWightman76 The Libs are on 25% and falling. The pain and anger from this budget could soon push them to below 20%. But they could hold for another 3 years unless Labor chooses to form government.
@virtualmusing Well, Labor has a choice. They could choose to negotiate with the cross bench, form government and present a different budget. Or they could choose to let this budget pass, delivering pain to the community and political damage to the Libs.
5. This reflects national trends, where large-scale infrastructure projects frequently experience budget overruns and delays. Mitigation may require project re-sequencing, scope adjustments or the provision of additional funding to maintain delivery timeframes.

4. Tasmania’s relatively small construction workforce in the context of the national construction sector and reliance on mobile interstate labour represents a degree of exposure.

2. Nationally, the construction sector is experiencing workforce shortages and low productivity, occurring alongside historically high levels of infrastructure demand.

If I’m reading this right, the “Operational Efficiencies” to Health + Education by 2028-29 are $266M pa. That could equate to a loss of over 2,000 jobs: nurses, teachers and others. #politas
On these figures, a number of sitting Lib MHAs would lose their seats at the next election. Perhaps some of them will pre-empt this by moving over to One Nation before the election? #politas

Sir Keir Starmer and his supporters desperately want Andy Burnham to lose the Markham by election. That means a Reform win. The best way they could achieve this is to convince lots of Labour voters to vote Green. The #FPTP voting system is totally absurd.
Greens are going to campaign for the Makerfield byelection, complicating Andy Burnham’s potential route back to parliament.
But Caroline Lucas, the party’s former leader, posted: “I hope this isn’t true. There are times when it’s more important to put country before party. This is one of them”.

@woof43_gp It’s not that simple. The three other independent candidates - beyond the 42%+ Teal plus Green vote - supported some of those four progressive policies. The total vote for candidates supporting an end to greyhound racing was well over 70%.
@kevinbonham@DrClimate Yeah. Perhaps whoever the commissioned the poll is trying to ascertain which conservative is best placed to defeat the progressives.
@gasugasu1984 Indeed. Also, there are many voters who prefer independents to party candidates, particularly in the LegCo. She was the only independent in Rosevears.
I don’t know what Tas Labor is trying to sell to voters, but whatever it is, Tasmanians aren’t buying it. I think Tas Labor is going the way of Kodak. #politas
In Huon, over 42% voted for candidates with policies of restricting salmon farming, stopping greyhound racing, no new stadium and stopping native forest logging. Labor had a good candidate but opposed these policies and got less than 17%. #politas

@KeruboSk As a child (in the 1960s) I attended the 100th and 101st birthday of my great grandmother where she played the piano for us. She was born in the 1860s and would have known people born before the French Revolution.
