At the Cottage Police Station in Manchester, Inspector Nadine Franklin and her team have shown extraordinary dedication.

Since Hurricane Melissa passed, they have worked nonstop, clearing blocked roads, checking on isolated residents, and supporting communities, even as the station itself suffered damage.

To support their vital work, I provided the station with a standby generator, ensuring operations continue uninterrupted. Their commitment reminds us that police service goes beyond enforcing the law, it is about protecting and caring for the people.

Our officers continue to embody resilience and unity, proving once again that service to community goes far beyond the badge.

Led by the U.S. Department of State, Joint Task Force-Bravo began deployment to Kingston, Jamaica, yesterday, on a mission to provide humanitarian and disaster relief assistance following Hurricane Melissa.  Three CH-47 Chinooks from the 1st Battalion, 228 Aviation Regiment, carried 40 service members and supplies as part of the initial effort to provide immediate, lifesaving and humanitarian support. They will provide ongoing U.S. disaster relief assistance missions requested by the government of Jamaica.
