The Hungarian government is preparing to lift its veto on Ukraine’s EU accession process.

But the fundamental problems remain. Ukraine’s accession poses serious security risks, could have enormous economic and budgetary consequences, and would fundamentally alter the balance of power within the European Union.

And even the issue that was supposed to be resolved before Hungary lifted its veto has not been resolved: the rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia. What is on the table is not the actual restoration of those rights, but a promise of future legislation. There are still no binding guarantees that the law will be adopted, properly implemented and enforced in practice. Nor is there any guarantee that the rights previously taken away - particularly in education and the use of the Hungarian language - will actually be restored.

Ukraine itself has made clear that it wants progress on the minority issue in order to remove the Hungarian veto and open further accession clusters. That is precisely why Hungary should not surrender its leverage before the commitments have actually been fulfilled.

Lifting the veto now would mean giving up Hungary’s strongest negotiating tool while both the minority issue and the much larger strategic questions surrounding Ukraine’s accession remain unresolved.

Nézzétek el nekem, hogy 2,5 év után is Varga Judit interjújából fogok idézni, de meggyőződésem, hogy sok dolgot megérthetünk általa abból, amiben most élünk.

Magyar Péter ordenáré, egészen elfogadhatatlan viselkedéséhez ott volt a kulcs egy mondatban, ami szinte mindenkinek elkerülte a figyelmét.

Varga Judit ugyanis elmondta: akkor jött rá, mekkora a baj, amikor rádöbbent, hogy még sosem látta a férjét őszintén, önfeledten örülni.

Amikor "Péter" nevetett, az mindig a káröröm, a gúny, az alázás megnyilvánulása volt, és sosem az örömé.

Egészséges lelkű ember nem kommentháborúzik éjszakába nyúlóan politológusokkal az interneten, nem bohócozza, propagandistázza olykor a baráti sajtót is egy neki nem tetsző cikk miatt hisztizve a Facebookon.
Egészséges lelkű ember nem kíván a másiknak "jó vergődést", mert nem kíván szenvedést senkinek. Ennek az alaknak ez a mindennapos szavajárása.

És az Isten szerelmére! Egy ember, akit miniszterelnökké választottak, nem gyalázhatja a saját állampolgárait, nem csúfolhatja "trollnak" a magyarok vele egyet nem értő részét, mert arra tette le az esküt, hogy minden állampolgárt szolgálni fog, meggyőződéstől függetlenül.

Magyarországnak lett egy vezetője, aki hiába tette le az esküt, nem vált miniszterelnökké. Megmaradt egy papírgalacsint köpőcsövező hülyegyerek a 3. b. osztályból. A tipikus elkényeztetett gyökér, aki kitépi a csiga szarvát, majd el is tapossa: szimpla gonoszságból, és mert egész életében elhitették vele, hogy körülötte forog a világ, és mindent megtehet.

Csak annyi változott, hogy most már a Twitteren robbant ki diplomáciai botrányokat részegen kommentelgetve idegen országok külügyminisztereinek.

Vegyétek észre, hogy lassan főzött békaként fokozatosan normalizáljátok az abnormalitást. Miközben erkölcsileg felsőbbrendűnek képzelitek magatokat, azzá lettetek, ami ellen állítólag éveken keresztül küzdöttetek.
Amikor a hatalom csúcsáról ez a penetráns, toxikus viselkedés a minta, nem csoda, hogy az egységsugarú tiszás is egyre durvább dolgokra érzi feljogosítva magát.

És csak a folyamat elején vagyunk, messze még a katarzis.

Mark my words. Amíg ez a torz lelkű figura hatalomban van, addig sem fejlődés, sem béke nem lesz ebben az országban.

Hungary is shifting from a free country into a socialist country, where everything is controlled by the state, in record time. No other EU country has this: an authority to take over private enterprises.

Meet the new “asset recovery authority”, now fully operational.

This is not an independent anti‑corruption body. It is political police set up by the new EPP government, led by PM Péter Magyar. The Authority has sweeping, unchecked powers:

👁️ Secret investigative powers: It can secretly investigate almost anyone who has ever had financial transactions involving public money: pensioners, families receiving childcare benefits, people with subsidised mortgages, even small firms that once did even a tiny contract with government.
💳 Impose a nanny on companies: It can literally take over the management of private companies. Or choose to "merely" access banking, tax and business secrets, and share them with other authorities. A total violation of private enterprise.
🗣️ Rat clause: it can force citizens to inform on others. If they refuse, fines go from 135,000 euros for individuals to 13,500,000 euros for organisations.
📆 Procedures may last 18 months, with very limited right of appeal.

Like in any authoritarian country, this is sold to the public as fight for transparency. In reality, it is to intimidate businesses. When it comes to free speech, self-censorship is cheaper than actual censorship.
Similarly, this is to intimidate businesses.

A body like this has no place in a democracy.
