As 2025 comes to a close, I'm continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favorite books, movies, and music. I hope you find something new to enjoy—and please send any recommendations for me to check out!
I recommend this book: “The Political Logic of Economic Reform in China” by Susan L. Shirk. It explains how China was able to undertake economic reforms, which ultimately helped the country to escape poverty, though without any political reforms. It has some lessons for African countries.
Daniel Kahneman won the Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences.
His theory about Behavioral Finance is groundbreaking.
Today, I am sharing all his public writings with you for free:

Jaier Milei wins Argentian's presidency! But who is Javier Milei?
Milei is a 53-year old who ran on the Freedom Adances party of Argentina and won!
Known as El Loco (The Madman), Javier was the lead singer of a Rolling Stones cover band called Everest and, according to Lemoine, also enjoys Bob Marley and Verdi.
Milei was more successful as a media personality, finding fame as an economic pundit on Argentinian TV shows where he would pontificate about both the misery of inflation and the joy of tantric sex.
Javier is an anarcho-capitalist. Anarcho-capitalism is a political philosophy and political-economic theory that advocates the voluntary exchange of goods and services in a society broadly regulated by the market rather than by the state.
Anarcho-capitalism is rooted in classical liberalism, individualist anarchism (i.e., anarchism that prioritizes individual liberty rather than freely formed associations of individuals), and the 19th-century Austrian school of economics, whose 20th-century adherents included the influential libertarian economists Ludwig von Mises and F.A. Hayek.
Anarcho-capitalism challenges other forms of anarchism by supporting private property and private institutions with significant economic power.
Born on October 22, 1970, Javier Milei has been described as populist, right-wing libertarian, ultraconservative, far-right, and ultraliberal. However, he identifies as a liberal libertarian, aligning specifically with minarchist and anarcho-capitalist principles.
Javier Milei strongly opposes abortion.
Milei is pledging economic shock therapy as he has plans to abolish the Central Bank of Argentina which would result in a de facto dollarised economy and a comprehensive overhaul of the country's fiscal and structural policies.
The USD is up over 100% against the Argentinian Peso year-to-date.
Milei obtained an economics degree at the private University of Belgrano and received two master's degrees from the Instituto de Desarrollo Económico y Social (IDES) and the private Torcuato di Tella University. He became a chief economist at Máxima AFJP, a head economist at Estudio Broda, and a government consultant at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes. He was also formerly a senior economist at HSBC.
Since 2012, Milei has led the division of Economic Studies, Fundación Acordar. He is also a member of the B20, the Economic Policy Group of the International Chamber of Commerce, and the World Economic Forum. He is a specialist in economic growth and has been a professor of several economic subjects in Argentine universities and abroad.
He has authored nine books, as well as over fifty academic papers. In the past, he worked in the private company Corporación América, where he worked for fifteen years as chief economist and financial adviser to Eduardo Eurnekian.
He was skeptical about Covid-19 vaccines though he later got vaccinated. He doesn't accept cimate change rhetoric. He is pro social necleus, the family.
He is pro Bitcoin!
And now, he is the President of Argentina!
