In case anyone was unsure as to why this “housebuilding advocate” is so set against the building of council houses, let me shed some light on it: Chris Worrall is Vice President at Thor Equities Group. They describe themselves as “Leaders in acquisition, development, leasing and management of residential assets.”
Chris has spent most of the last 20 years making his money from the industry around landlords & private property ownership. The vested interests are hard at work, defending the profits of private landlords against the “left-wing” who want to provide secure, stable homes for the people who need them.
2001: Alistair Darling raises concerns to David Blunkett that low-skilled migrants would "be in direct competition with a very large number of economically inactive people who are trying to get into the labour market, and many of them are competing for the same entry level jobs."
Building council houses does pay for itself over time AND even if it didn’t it would still be the right thing to do for the country, the economy and most importantly of all people’s actual lives.
🚨BREAKING: Andy Burnham has privately committed to abandoning David Lammy's jury reforms which would have replaced trial by jury with just a judge in many offences
I am so happy to be on the ballot and so grateful to all the CLPs that nominated me. Restoration has big plans for the year ahead and representation on the NEC will go a long way to put our Labour values in practice.
I will be writing individually to the CLPs that nominated me when the website is updated and I know which ones did.
Quick apologies if you're waiting for a reply on my Reddit AMA.
We may have actually crashed Reddit which has meant my answers haven’t loaded…
They should start appearing soon, and thanks to everyone who sent in a question!
