@Anthrage@philwrite@merry123459 I know, shared jurisdiction is complicated. The federal government controls the criminal law (including bail law), the provinces control the administration of it. Hope this helps.
@philwrite@merry123459 This is incorrect, the criminal code is federal legislation because it is federal jurisdiction. Bail laws come from the criminal code. The administration of justice is provincial jurisdiction (running court houses, crown prosecutors etc. )
Doug Ford did not call her to the bar, nor was she called without being qualified. The Law Society of Ontario calls lawyers to the bar, they're not a government organization and absolutely do not call unqualified people to the bar.
SMH at all the misguided outrage at Caroline Mulroney being appointed KC. Did any of you know what it was before last week? It's a symbolic honour that has always been bestowed upon favorites, it's always been patronage/popularity contest. Furthermore...
@scotiabank@Desiree_Dakin I read through this thread in dismay, then spit out my drink laughing when I saw this reply by @scotiabank you can't make this #### up. I smell punitive damages against @scotiabank for being dirtbags
@NeedlesOnNews@lawandchocolate Disagree. Could still be a manslaughter, could still be self defense. Manslaughter has a victim yes, hut not a murder victim.
@NeedlesOnNews@lawandchocolate Well no, not really. In many cases the courts still need to figure out if it was a murder as opposed to an accident, a manslaughter, an act of self defense.... so by calling it a murder you would be presuming the verdict.
This yearβs holiday campaign from @UWHalifax is remarkable for a number of reasonsβitβs shot entirely on a Ring doorbell camera, its stars are volunteers instead of actors and itβs been at least a year in the making. https://t.co/x22R4vMFHI
@SainiLaw I think you should tell them, it's probably ignorance and the only way to learn is being politely mentored. Unchecked, it could become a problem.
βI am still mad at myself for thatβfor being convinced, at one point in time, that the prime minister was an honest and good person, when, in truth, he would so casually lie to the public and then think he could get away with it.β
