Global uncertainty continues to push energy prices higher, and that’s putting more pressure on Albertans’ wallets.
Today I announced that relief is on the way. Starting Oct. 1, Alberta will suspend the full provincial fuel tax, saving Albertans 13 cents per litre on gasoline and diesel every time they fill up until the end of the year. This is practical relief that helps families, workers and businesses keep more money in their pockets.
Albertans already pay the lowest overall taxes in Canada, and this cut adds to our unmatched tax advantage.

Let’s never hand this country's economy back to the 2% ever again. Those days did real damage and Canadians are still paying for them.
Canada is now following Alberta’s lead. Develop. Explore. Build the infrastructure that gets our resources to market.
The tide has turned. Let’s make the most of it.
Happy Labour Day, Alberta!
Today, we recognize and celebrate the hardworking Albertans whose contributions strengthen our economy and build our communities.
Alberta is the economic engine of Canada, and our workers are the driving force behind that success. Every day, millions of Albertans help make our province a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Thank you to Alberta’s workers for all that you do. Today, we celebrate you.
I spoke with our American friends through CNBC this morning.
My message: this continent has everything it needs to achieve North American security and independence in energy, critical minerals and the supply chains both our economies run on. Canada has the resources. The United States has the refining and manufacturing capacity to add two or three times their value and export those products around the world. That partnership adds millions of jobs to the U.S. economy and strengthens American trade surpluses with other countries.
Every day we spend arguing about tariffs is a day we hand ground to countries that are not our allies. Neither nation can afford the job losses and increased consumer costs of continuing the fight on trade.
Let’s get back to the negotiating table, get to a deal and move forward.

Alberta’s history is one of grit, perseverance, and opportunity. Where generations of Albertans have rolled up their sleeves, helped their neighbours, and worked hard to get things done.
We’ve never lost that spirit. In fact, it lives on in everyone who calls this beautiful province home. We see it in every city, town, and community across Alberta. We see it in our people and in our diversity that strengthens who we are.
From the Rocky Mountains to the rolling prairies, Alberta is a jewel in our nation’s crown. Today, we celebrate 121 years as a province and as a proud part of the best country in the world: Canada.
Happy Alberta Day!
I joined Fox Business this morning to advocate for a tariff free relationship, and for both federal governments to get back to the negotiating table.
My message to Americans is clear: tariffs and counter tariffs increase costs, disrupt supply chains, put pressure on businesses and workers, and impact families in both countries.
The U.S. benefits greatly from free trade with Canada because their refineries and businesses take our raw resource exports, such as energy, add two or three times their value through processing and manufacturing, and then export those value-added products around the world. This adds millions of jobs to the U.S. economy. It also enhances U.S. trade surpluses with other countries.
It’s an amazingly beneficial trading relationship for both countries that we should be building - not breaking.
Let’s get back to the negotiating table, finalize a deal & move forward as friendly neighbours and allies again.
Alberta is on track for a sixth consecutive surplus, and the Heritage Fund is on pace to hit $35 billion in 2027.
Not only did we balance the budget in 2025-26, but we are now also on track for a $2 billion surplus in 2026-27.
Our economy is growing faster than forecast and faster than most of the country, and we’re attracting more and more investment.
Thank you to Minister Jason Nixon @JasonNixonAB and his team for the discipline and hard work behind these numbers. Alberta has been given a great opportunity to finish the year strong.

Happy Ukrainian Independence Day!
Today, we join nearly 400,000 Albertans of Ukrainian heritage in celebrating Ukraine's independence and the rich contributions of the Ukrainian community across our province.
Alberta and Ukraine share a longstanding belief in freedom, democracy, and self-determination. As Ukraine continues to defend these values, Alberta stands proudly alongside them.
Slava Ukraini!
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their communities and places of worship, and we will continue to defend that right. We stand with the entire Sikh community across our province against recent acts of despicable violence over the last few days.
Our thoughts go out to the members of the Nanaksar Sikh Temple as well as the victims and their families today as we wish them a quick and full recovery.
Today’s attack once again affirms why the federal government must take bail and parole reform seriously. Violent repeat offenders must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and kept behind bars. Full stop.

Let me be clear: the administration and delivery of health care is an area of provincial jurisdiction, not federal. We expect the federal government to respect Alberta’s jurisdiction and its authority to determine how health care is delivered in this province.
We remain committed to building a stronger public system and ensuring Albertans never have to pay out of pocket for medically necessary care - which is a commitment we have made under our Public Health Care Guarantee.
Alberta’s dual practice model does not violate the Canada Health Act. The Act does not prohibit private practice outside the publicly insured system. Albertans who choose to pay privately for eligible elective surgery should be able to do so here at home, rather than travelling out of province as they have done for decades.
In Alberta, we do things a little differently, and I firmly believe we can do both.
Thank you, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi @takaichi_sanae.
Japan 🇯🇵 needs secure, affordable energy from a stable democracy and there is no better supplier in the world than our province.
Alberta’s oil is reaching Asian markets and we are prepared to send a great deal more.
Every cargo that leaves for places like Japan means jobs here at home and energy security for an ally abroad.
Most Albertans have probably seen the headlines about companies wanting to invest in and build AI data centres in Alberta.
Many Albertans are excited about that, but others have legitimate questions.
Here are the answers to 6 common questions on everything from power to water to land use and how these investments will financially benefit our province now and in the future.

Alberta is not going to leave $10 trillion dollars in the ground. Not a chance.
The west coast oil pipeline will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, generate hundreds of billions for roads, schools and hospitals, and keep our taxes amongst the lowest in the developed world. Here’s how 👇
Please share this with those who have questions about Alberta’s plan to build the new west coast pipeline.

Alberta NDP leader, Naheed Nenshi @nenshi, says we need to threaten the U.S. with an export tax on Alberta’s oil and gas to create leverage in trade negotiations with the Americans.
An export tax on Alberta oil to the U.S. would literally put over hundred thousand Albertans out of work almost overnight and decimate our economy across the board - not to mention the probable US retaliation of cutting off Line 5 fuel to Ontario and Quebec.
It would be like punching ourselves in the face.
Unlike the Nenshi NDP, I will protect Albertans’ jobs and livelihoods.
So let me be clear: an export tax on Alberta oil and gas or the halting of supply to the U.S. is not going to happen…period. Full stop. It’s not on the table nor will it be on the table in the future.
I will continue with the diplomatic approach that has resulted in 97% of Alberta exports remaining tariff free, and continue to work with the many and growing number of elected U.S. officials and other allies that are working diligently to end the tariff dispute between our two great nations.
