On Mother’s Day weekend, a mother and son graduated from Howard University together, she earned her doctorate in ministry while he received his finance degree. The day couldn’t get any sweeter than graduating beside your son on a journey decades in the making.
Attention Morehouse, Spelman & Howard alumni
Howard University will be hosting Morehouse College for their 2026 homecoming on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Plan accordingly because this one is extremely rare.
The last HU vs Morehouse homecoming matchup was in October 18, 1997.
Reverend Jesse Jackson spread a message of hope and confidence to Black students in Los Angeles as part of a self-help program. In 1977, he told students, “Down with dope, up with hope. Nobody will save us from us for us, but us."
Rev. Jackson, the famed civil rights leader who marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr., died Tuesday morning at the age of 84.
A simple message with big meaning: "I am somebody." We are grateful to Rev. Jesse Jackson for helping teach generations of children to believe in themselves and in one another. Thank you for being part of our neighborhood. 💛💚
#BlackHistoryMonth Day 2, Book 2: Brian Gilmore’s new cultural and intellectual journey through a century and a half of African artists in Washingon DC, “No More Worlds to Conquer: The Black Poet in Washington DC.” A cultural and political history through a poet’s eyes.
What the hell is going on? Trump has supposedly abducted President Maduro and his wife and brought them to the United States for trial, supposedly for drug trafficking and bringing drugs to the United States. It was just a few weeks ago when Trump pardoned one of the biggest drug traffickers in the world, Juan Orlando Hernández, the former President of Honduras, who had been convicted by the Biden Administration and was serving a sentence of 45 years in prison. What is this? Is this about regime change? Is this about oil? Or is this a power play to continue to send a message around the world that Trump is all-powerful and he is headed towards dictatorship in our country?
30 years ago, Black men gathered in Washington, D.C. for the historic Million Man March — born out of a call for unity, responsibility, and an end to the systemic violence facing our communities.
Today, we honor the legacy, the message, and the movement. That spirit lives on. We must continue the fight alongside our brothers and sisters in a struggle that’s so much bigger than us. ✊🏿 #MillionManMarch
I’m SO happy to announce that my first book “A Dream Deferred: Jesse Jackson and the Fight for Black Political Power” will be released on October 28, 2025 and is available for pre-orders now.
Jesse Jackson broke barriers in his two bids for the presidency in 1984 and 1988, paving the way not only for the first Black president but also supercharging the political power of Black voters in the Democratic Party.
A Dream Deferred is the story of two extraordinary campaigns and the complex, gifted man behind them.
