This Mother’s Day I can’t help but reflect on Mother’s Day 2017. I had just done my first interview about Harvey and was helping to raise funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Harvey was only 14 months old at this point and the future for him looked bright. The cracks in his care were still hidden, and shortly after doing this interview is when I found out how severe his scoliosis was.
In the article I say “my hopes for him are like any parent, as long as he’s happy in the quality of his life, we’re happy”, but he wasn’t afforded the quality of life or care he should have got.
I finish with “Harvey has shown
me what true strength is and taught me how to stand up and fight, he has shown me what it is to have unconditional love, he is my hero.”
And that rings true today.

Sending Mother’s Day love to all the fierce mothers who are fighting every day for their kids to get the life they deserve. I hope one day we don’t have to fight any more 💕

Two thirds of Alzheimer’s patients are women. Not because women live longer, but because estrogen protects the brain. When it’s suddenly stripped away, the brain literally shrinks. Brain fog in your 40s isn’t “just stress.” It’s a red flag. But instead of addressing hormones, women are gaslight with antidepressants or told to meditate. Fast forward 20 years and she’s in a nursing home and can’t remember her own kids. This isn’t “normal aging.” It’s medical negligence. And despite most Alzheimer’s patients being women, much of the research is still done on male mice instead of female mice. That’s not science, that’s neglect.”

Ms Power told the Sligo and Leitrim coroner, Fergal Kelly, that she twice asked for her son to be transferred to Crumlin from Sligo University Hospital (SUH) after he was admitted on March 25, 2023.

She said she felt her requests were disregarded. The inquest also heard that despite the advice of a consultant anaesthetist, Crumlin Children’s Hospital was not contacted for another 14 hours.

The inquest heard harrowing evidence of Nicholas’s final days as several witnesses detailed his worsening respiratory distress and agitation at SUH, which culminated in his death on March 27, 2023.

A verdict of medical misadventure was returned in the case of 12-year-old Nicholas Power. The inquest heard of "harrowing" delays and missed warnings before he died of sepsis.

Survivor Maria Farmer was the first girl to report Jeffrey Epstein and his network.

She reminded the court that in August 2018, just one year before his death, Jeffrey Epstein told a New York Times reporter that, “criminalizing sex with teenage girls was a cultural aberration and that times in history it was perfectly acceptable.”
