At a conference that emphasizes trainees' voices. Great. BUT I often hear PIs comment "good question" before answering. I think that this is discouraging to trainees who ask questions but are not acknowledged for a "good question".

We're always nervous about asking a stupid question. If you say "good question" it just means that it's one that you've also thought about, not necessarily it was a good question. The use of "good" implies there is a "bad". #phdchat
