The town of Spruce Pine,Nc remains nearly cut off from the world like the rest of small NC towns dotting the mountains post Helene. Thankful to get in with supplies and Starlink to get these people back in touch with their loved ones.
Many animals don’t have a place to go after #Helene. The Forsyth County Humane Society is giving shelter to many from Asheville. They need help with adoptions and fosters.
We need more volunteers in WNC for rescues, wellness checks, and relief delivery!!

Reasonable amount of self sufficiency is required.
An old Air Force buddy of mine is an EMS worker [firefighter/EMT] in east Tennessee and he messaged me earlier today and his text was basically (paraphrasing):
"saw the videos you've been sharing and that's nothing. Those videos are just from people who are in places with service. Wait until you see what's happened where there's no service"
Unfortunately I think he's probably right. This storm and the scale of the flooding that's resulted from it is truly hard to comprehend...

It seems main Reason Asheville has not water is because the main water line that brings 2/3 of the water from the Laurel Ridge, Black Mountain reservoir is badly broken in different parts. On top of that the pumping stations are damage or without electricity. That why @wckitchen we are bringing 5 water trucks for distribution…contributing to efforts to have everyone with access to water..#ChefsForNorthCarolina
I am hearing reports that I-40 near the North Carolina / Tennessee line will take over a year to repair and reopen. This will have a HUGE impact on an important shipping artery for the Region. Projected opening - October 2025
