@ZwaneSiguqa@D_Molatoli They are actually friends and colleagues. Defending Ace Magashule together. Just like soccer players, these lawyers are all friends.
Tax Justice South Africa (TJSA) has called for an urgent investigation into alleged links between senior law enforcement officials and the illicit cigarette trade following revelations contained in court papers before the Madlanga Commission.
The documents reportedly include WhatsApp exchanges suggesting a close relationship between Major-General Feroz Khan and Carnilinx Tobacco COO Mohamed Sayed.
TJSA said the allegations are deeply concerning and, if proven, indicate possible influence and protection for individuals linked to the illicit tobacco industry.
The organisation says the revelations highlight how entrenched and politically connected the illicit tobacco trade has become. Carnilinx is a member of FITA, which is opposing SARS’ plans to install CCTV systems in cigarette factories to improve oversight and curb tax evasion.
TJSA has called for a judicial inquiry into the illicit tobacco trade, suspension of implicated officials, lifestyle audits, stronger protections for whistleblowers and journalists, and the immediate implementation of SARS monitoring measures.
TJSA said the allegations should serve as a turning point in dismantling criminal networks linked to the illicit tobacco trade and restoring public trust in law enforcement institutions.

@somkheleomkhulu I get frustrated when people criticise Zondo for the outcomes of the commission. Madlanga commission was actually a recommendation by Zondo. CR delayed until he couldnt anymore. In fact, it needed to also cover SSA shenanigans. NPA has charged many ppl as a result of Zondo too.
@somkheleomkhulu Lol. Hence I said 99%. Was gonna say 100%, but thought of confession. As I understand, confession of one cannot be used to convict another.
But yeah, the confession will make Nxumalo excited enough to call other witnesses. He's been extensively cross-examining defence witnesses
@mokone_eddie@D_Molatoli Bolela sebata. Connection ke eng between the two? I have a person vendatta against Ze and I admit it was initially driven by jealosy. Until my professional skepticism senses proved me right. Lol
@somkheleomkhulu The defence counter-case is weak. Only guy who may survive is Accused #4. The State's case against him is 99% circumstancial. Others have "fingerprints".
His lawyer will do well to just call him to the stand to come and give an alibi, and not call any other witness.
