The Buyer-Seller Meet organised by CSIR-IIIM at CSIR Innovation Complex, Mumbai, marked an important prelude to Lavender Festival 2026, highlighting Jammu & Kashmir’s growing identity as India’s Lavender Hub under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated the event, which brought together leading aroma industries, startups, scientists and lavender farmers from Jammu & Kashmir to strengthen market linkages and promote sustainable lavender-based entrepreneurship under the Purple Revolution.

Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the efforts of Dr. Zabeer Ahmed and acknowledged the guidance of Dr. N. Kalaiselvi in advancing the CSIR Aroma Mission through science-driven innovation and farmer empowerment.

Strengthening market linkages, empowering farmers, and building sustainable livelihoods 🌿

NMPB and CSIR–Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), in collaboration with the Directorate of Ayush, J&K, successfully organized a Buyer–Seller Meet at Bhaderwah to boost the Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (MAPs) sector in the region. The event witnessed active participation from farmers, industry stakeholders, and officials, resulting in the signing of 6 MoUs for assured supply and improved market access.

J&K Science & Technology Department and CSIR–IIIM Jammu held a joint review meeting on the progress of Industrial Biotech Parks at Ghatti Kathua and Handwara at CSIR–IIIM Jammu.

The high-level meeting, attended by Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director CSIR–IIIM & Chairman IIIM-TBI and Commissioner/Secretary Babila Rakwal, JKAS, and along with senior officials, scientists, and stakeholders, reviewed infrastructure development, commissioning timelines, and utilisation strategy.

The discussions focused on strengthening research, prototyping, and startup ecosystem development, with emphasis on biotechnology-driven innovation, tissue culture, fermentation technology, and bio-based products.
Officials highlighted the need for timely completion, phased commissioning, and stronger coordination among executing agencies to ensure efficient implementation of the projects.

The Biotech Parks are envisioned as key innovation hubs to support startups, entrepreneurship, skill development, and industry collaboration, contributing to science-led industrial growth in Jammu & Kashmir.
