The UK government says that X now requiring users to have a paid subscription to use Grok’s AI image generation tool is “insulting” to victims of misogyny and sexual violence.

The country was previously reported to be considering banning the platform over it allowing users to generate sexualised deepfakes.

It says the new change “simply turns an AI feature that allows the creation of unlawful images into a premium service.”
