The one 'workout' that is often used by runners that is almost never mentioned in the health space: strides.
It's simple. It's not hard.
Just adding 6 to 10 x 15 seconds at a faster but controlled pace to the end of your run can make a big difference.

With 2 min rest, that's tough. Running 400m all out would be slower than 3x150m all out. More likely to puke from the 3x150m
Our milers could do it without puking, but that's because they can't run fast enough given their engine
After I took a break from running and started back up, my watch now told me I was severely overtraining every single day for weeks on end...even though I was running only 4-5 miles easy.
