I worked for Sir David between 2013-2015 and in that time we repeatedly asked the department for a review of Approved Document B and for the lessons of Lakanal House to be learnt but we were consistently ignored. I’m glad this is now all coming to light.
Much of this centred on repeated appeals to the department to act more urgently from APPG chaired by the late Sir David Amess MP. Reviewing this correspondence in the days after the fire, a senior civil servant called the department's efforts "appalling"
Does anyone have any further details on the “Building Industry Scheme” included in the Building Safety Bill amendments? No mention of it in the press release?
Brilliant new campaign launched today called #RoofRevolution which aims to transform the way we use our urban roofscapes for the benefit of all. We @TheNFRC are delighted to be a founding supporter. Take a look at this video 👇🏼 #LookUp@RoofRev

In this podcast we interview Prof. Patrick James, Prof. of Energy & Buildings at the @unisouthampton, on his new report commissioned by the NFRC Charitable Trust, "Future (P)roof—Building resilience of roofing technologies in a changing climate".

This report from @HLBuiltEnviro is worth a read. Picks up on one of the key points from our submission— if we are to build 300k homes a year we need the skills to deliver. Currently 77% of roofing contractors are finding it difficult to recruit—and that’s at current build rates.
There is also a massive potential to develop rooftop solar PV. The changes in building regs next June should kickstart a much greater take up of solar in new build and we are urging roofing contractors to upskill to help deliver this. /5
Pleased to have worked with Professor Patrick James and his team at Southampton and @garywalpole on this important research. It shows that overheating is going to be a real issue for certain building types such as flats and loft/dormer conversions /1
Today the NFRC Charitable Trust has published research by the @unisouthampton which found that the way the UK builds, maintains, and upgrades its roofs will be critical to how we adapt to a wetter & warmer #climate.

Roofing technologies such as green/blue/cool roofs can help to cool a building, reduce rainwater runoff and enhance biodiversity. But outside of London there really aren’t many policies to help promote these /4
Another great @EntForumUK event with @KwasiKwarteng. A really interesting discussion was had on a range of topics from productivity, to skills, to net zero to supply chain challenges. The Minister seemed up-beat and keen to engage.
This morning: The Enterprise Forum in partnership with @bethebusiness held a Hybrid Business Discussion with @KwasiKwarteng on “Post-Pandemic Business Recovery”. Thank you to the Secretary of State and all businesses for taking part.
Great day at the @TheNFRC Great British Slate Off yesterday @COREHereford. An outstanding display of craftsmanship from all the students involved #GBSO
