This is Helen, one of our #100polarwomen & a glaciologist who in 2006 discovered active subglacial lakes in #antarctica. Her main focus is on the role that ice shelves have in supporting grounded ice. Read more here: 📷https://t.co/Kd6wvCtNOD

The most important thing about this amazing Paris transformation is how fast it happened — how fast people on bikes “appeared” — once streets were transformed. You can’t write this off as “#Paris was always this way,” because it wasn’t. It took leadership.
This was a fantastic opportunity to hear from international colleagues from NZ and the Netherlands! The event concluded with a panel reflecting on contemporary challenges: Dr Liggett (@UCNZ), Dr Tracey (@AusAntarctic), Dr Lamers (@WUR) & Robyn Mundy (expedition guide & author)

The headline might be alarmist, but the article is true. The Macquarie Island environment is changing, so too are some wildlife populations. How and why are the next questions.

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.
Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

COMNAP is delighted to note that the ATCM has commended COMNAP & SCAR for our work on equity, diversity and inclusivity. Congratulations to Sonia (CPE) & Phil (AAD) for co-chairing the ATCM WG2 and to Rolo (AT Secretariat) for support.
We couldn't agree more with @themercurycomau today: "At the moment, greater Hobart councils spend a piddling amount on cycling infrastructure. If they want to encourage more bike and scooter use, they have to build paths and lanes spearated from vehicles to encourage it."
Great to join with @UTAS_ & the @PropertyCouncil to officially launch the Hobart Transport Forum.
The Forum wants to see a reduction in traffic congestion and more efficient, enviro friendly transport options in Greater Hobart. #politas
