Conditioning for MOST SPORTS isn't distance running.
There is a time for building capacity.
But most sports are short bursts and long rests.
Sprint, Jog, Walk.
Repeated short efforts.
Building Rotational Power
Rotation is a combination of a push and a pull.
Like spinning a top.
For youth athletes creating that connection can transfer to the field almost right away.
Major improvements for youth will come from motor learning, before muscular development
Kids don't need a baseball-specific program first.
They need a broad base.
The Soviets built athletes on general physical preparation before they ever specialized.
Strength, speed, mobility, work capacity.
The pyramid needs a wide bottom to stand tall.

Being strong is only good if you can produce power.
Force = Mass X Acceleration
In our program we train both.
3 days per week, 12 months a year.
@coachcris_ Again, every environment and athlete needs something different. I’m lucky to make decisions based on those factors, not a Coordinator and front office.
Squatting, in all variations, is foundation in the @CapeHenryCBaseb Strength Program.
Max Effort, Dynamic Effort, Repeat Effort
Front Squat, Back Squat, Dumbbell, and Landmines.
3 Days per Week, 12 Month per Year
Simple (but not easy) template for training athletes
Double Leg
Single Leg
Upper Body Push
Upper Body Pull
Pick one for each:
Max Effort (heavy)
Dynamic Effort (Light & Fast)
Repeat Effort (high reps)
Rotate over days, weeks, months, and years
The Winter Off Season is here for @CapeHenryCBaseb
the winter is the longest, most uninterrupted training period of the year for a baseball player.
Dedicate yourself to the winter and you’ll be a different player in the spring.
You don’t have to play multiple sports in high school to play baseball in college. But at Cape Henry, most of our college baseball players did.
Of our 20 baseball alumni who are currently playing at the college level, 15 played multiple sports while at Cape Henry.
Most people overthink their workouts… and that’s exactly why they don’t progress.
The 8/5/3 Method is a SYSTEM. It adjusts based on ur readiness.
It removes the guesswork.
It gives you structure.
It tells you exactly what to do.
Stop thinking. Start executing.
