Back on the school beat: a few snaps leading up to the start of classes today. This year’s first day of school is bittersweet as it is my last … after 20 years with DMPS - a term as a Board member and what will be 16+ years as communications director - I plan to retire in June.

The Iowa Court of Appeals has elected Mary Tabor, Des Moines, as chief judge. Chief Judge Tabor has served on the court of appeals since 2010. She is the eleventh chief judge since the state legislature established the Iowa Court of Appeals in 1976.
