"Do dishes" is purpose. "Do dishes for my roommate" is meaningful purpose. "My roommate matters" is the meaning without purpose.
This is also why AI sucks at conversation.

People need meaning.
Computers have purpose. Robots have purpose. Algorithms are reciprocating purposes.
But the human condition requires meaning. We abandoned it with all the postmodern focus on purpose.
