I was proud to stand with Wilmot farmers, residents and their supporters in Kitchener last night. There are so many things wrong with how this expropriation was handled. These farmers and the people of this region deserve better from the regional govt and the province.
@MikeSchreiner@OntarioGreens Do we even have a minister of agriculture or the environment anymore? Ontario farmers have no voice, support or protection like they once did.
@CityNewsKIT Go farmers! Make local politicians accountable to the master plan, climate promises, growth promises and get them to listen to proven science.
@mikedoherty_ca@RegionWaterloo@Miovision Pedestrian activated signals are needed at all crossings so drivers know they’re there. Vehicles have too many dash distractions and the 20+ signs in roundabouts are a visual nightmare to navigate through.
@TorontoStar Catching them isn’t the problem, deterring them from the big easy money and then the wrist slap minimal punishment is the challenge. That solution doesn’t cost $134M.
Irony is driving on the 401, and seeing cars with “I Share The Road” safety stickers but they’re sitting in/clogging the middle lane and impeding the safe flow of traffic. Yes, they are cycling safety stickers but the irony is still there.
Pass then move right. :-)
@WR_Record The 1 billion LRT route should be the #1 priority for a location. That’s what tax paying citizens were told about core development when the LRT was sold to them. The region will honour that, right?
@CityNewsKIT Sad times when long time family farms get paved over by a regional govt that was committed to an LRT, building up living/working in the core, fighting climate crisis but then chasing the almighty $$$$ Please resign when you continue to do a 180 on your previous positions
@farwell_WR@CityNewsKIT Wilmot land grab = Say one thing in 2019, develop a master plan, then do something completely contradictory in 2024. Why not rezone the residential land near Williamsburg as industrial then move that planned housing to the core as promised . Build up not out! Honour your pledge!
@farwell_WR Just like Monopoly. Trade the downtown abandoned GRT terminal for the dwindling Fairview Mall site. Even trade, Both have LRT master plan credibility.
Roll the dice, game on.
@reggcohn When fumbling leaders stay on and their party gets pummelled in an election, a lot of good MPs or MPPs also go down with the ship. Leaders need to put their egos aside and think about the future of their party candidates. They deserve better.
@farwell_WR It’s a sad sight when leaders don’t know when to step down gracefully with their personal pride and public respect intact. Happens too often in politics up here as well.
