It's been interesting to see a significant number of SBC'ers evaluate the future implications of the Truth and Unit Amendment based on their particular understanding of its intent, rather than what it actually says. #SBC26
Nevertheless, I'm thankful for this amendment and believe it will provide the intended clarity for the CC. My ongoing concern is the continued enumeration of our BFM in the SBC Constitution. 3/3
It's amazing how much significance one word can have.
In Dr. Mohler's original motion, the "function" of a pastor was left wide open for the CC to discern because of the words "such as." That was a problem that could have been abused.

But now, in his amended motion, the function of a pastor has been restricted to preaching to the assembly due to the word "specifically." That word takes us from one extreme to another. Obviously, pastoral authority includes more than preaching. 2/3
@Brad_Cone@colinsmo I’d also vote yes, but I resonate with your point #1. It’s frustrating that our BFM must be enumerated in the constitution to direct the CC adequately.
Dr. Wellum will be at Graefenburg Baptist Church this Saturday, May 2, at 6:00 pm to speak on the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and the nature of Israel. It will be a great evening of learning and asking questions.
his glory and the good of our congregation.
I say it so often, but there is no church like GBC. We made this transition with unity, excitement, and a focus on the Scriptures. I'm overwhelmed by God's loving-kindness and the amazing saints at GBC. We really are #GBCfamily
Last night was an emotional one for me. After 6 years of study, preparation, teaching, and affirmation, Graefenburg Baptist Church had its first elders meeting with our newly affirmed elders. It was a historic moment, but more importantly, a moment I trust will be used by God...
Neil, the Meade family (5 of us) have been working through your book during worship time. The conversations have been a blessing. Thank you, brother. @NeilShenvi
Earnestly defending metaphysical essentialism or natural law in a mainstream academic context is much, *much* more courageous, and comes at a greater cost, than yelling “fake and gay!” on the internet. The former is seen and treated as a threat; the latter as unserious.
"We should always exercise caution before slapping “Christian” on things that reside outside of a regenerate context."
I love that quote from @andrewtwalker
