For years, the dominant assumption was that digital platforms are neutral infrastructure. They build the road; users decide where to drive. If a child encountered harmful content, the answer was better parental supervision. If cyberbullying occurred, the solution was education. If a teenager became addicted to her phone, the family needed to manage screen time.

‘DISINFORMATION IS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL’
READ: Elias Ayuban Jr., bishop of Cubao, clarified that there is no Society of the Divine Word (SVD) church along Mindanao Avenue after a witness alleged that he delivered cash to Fr. Flavie Villanueva there.
Joely Cadiao, a witness in the Cayetano-led hearing on Thursday, June 4, claimed that he delivered an envelope of cash to a church along Mindanao Ave. connected to Villanueva, a member of the SVD. He also alleged that he delivered a suitcase of money to the priest’s car.
Ayuban pointed out that in the Diocese of Cubao, the only SVD churches are the Sacred Heart Parish-Shrine in Kamuning, the Sto. Niño de Violago Quasi-Parish, and the Divine Word Shrine along E. Rodriguez Avenue.
The battle against fake news takes a new turn as critics warn the anti-disinformation bill may hand authorities sweeping powers.

‘NEVER HAS HUMANITY HAD SUCH POWER OVER ITSELF’
Nagbabala si Pope Leo XIV sa masamang epekto ng paglaganap ng makabagong teknolohiya, partikular ng artificial intelligence.
Sinabi ito ng Santo Papa sa kauna-unahan niyang encyclical na pinamagatang, “Magnifica humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence.”
“We cannot consider AI to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations,” saad niya.
“Calling for prudence, rigorous evaluation and even, at times, a slower pace in adopting AI does not mean opposing progress; instead, it is an exercise of responsible care for the human family,” dagdag pa ng Santo Papa.
