The journey took many years, but the Trust was given a lifeline by the @HeritageFundUK, so we were able to make that game-changing purchase in March 2015.

In 2007, we were at risk of losing the Castle.

When Bishop Selby retired and the Church Commission wanted to sell the estate, the Friends of Hartlebury Castle and the Hurd Library formed to save it!

They founded Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust...

#OnThisDay in 1788, Queen Charlotte, King George III and their family had a breakfast of tea, coffee, chocolate, fruit and jellies in our Hurd Library 🍐 ☕

They then promenaded in the grounds for 8000 spectators!

A small ‘re-enactment’ in the library today couldn’t be missed.
