A recent, first-of-its-kind judgment against an illegal dumper is "a big win for the city," Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams said. It could be a sign that Philadelphia has an effective deterrent for its runaway trash problem, among other strategies. https://t.co/eV8FUVju8M
The Streets Department is the primary agency responsible for remediation of illegal dumping sites across the City of Philadelphia. In 2021, the Department removed 7,171 tons of illegally dumped materials from 1,309 sites and an estimated 83,600 tires.
