@FrMatthewLC@TomlinsonCJ Father, could you please explain why these two sacraments in particular are unique in this way? I was also confused by the Vatican saying they are invalid and not only illicit.
It seems strange that matrimony requires ordinary authorization for validity, but ordination does not
@FrMiller@PetriOP Are page numbers really necessary for communal prayer? I’d assume all the priests you gather with know how to setup their breviary for the given day
Well, that’s it. It was a good run fellas. Brutal performance this match, but it happens… I’d say we met pre-bracket expectations, just didn’t exceed them. This hurts, but we’ll be back, and there’s plenty more World Cup to enjoy even if we’re out.
VAMOS USA!
This is very obviously the case. DJT didn’t mention calling until way after it was reversed, and he didn’t even directly take credit for the reversal. It’s very common for him to place his name near everything that’s popular in the US. The outrage from euros is entirely misguided
Interesting point on the Balogun situation that’s gone unnoticed:
Jenny Taft and now the NY Post are reporting that FIFA was already reviewing the red card (protocol?) before Trump made any calls, and that the USSF was threatening to go to CAS over the issue…
Entirely possible that Trump swooped in and took credit at the last minute, certainly not out of the ordinary for him
Man, the knockouts are kinda sad…
I was thinking about how few matches are left. Many countries that were amazing to watch at the start are now finished
There’s only two more weeks left. Watching world class footy everyday is just my habit now, I don’t want it to end. Brutal
@Catholic_bro My immediate answer was the Ave Maria, perhaps just by frequency used in saying the rosary.
But - and I’m going to be interpretive here - the Mass itself is a prayer, the most holy and effective that the Church offers. So, I’d say they should memorize praying the Mass itself
🇺🇸 On the 250th anniversary weekend of the United States, American Catholics joined the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage through the streets of Philadelphia—walking 2 miles from the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul to the National Shrine of St. John Neumann during a Eucharistic procession following the closing Mass of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. The journey began in St. Augustine, Florida in May and made its way up the east coast of the US until arriving in Pennsylvania on July 2nd.
Faith in motion. Christ in our midst.
The Catholic Church in Philadelphia concludes the One Nation Under God Eucharistic Pilgrimage with Solemn Mass and an epic procession up Broad Street
May Jesus Christ, truly present in the most Holy Sacrament, bless our country and city.
@AMPMSose@DarieAerie@PhiladelphiaGov@theroots Of course we need to invest in those things, and we can debate the exact amount that’s appropriate for these events. But it isn’t fair to entirely write off them off, because they do contribute to the common good. Paving roads and cultivating community are not mutually exclusive
@AMPMSose@DarieAerie@PhiladelphiaGov@theroots Public events ARE an investment in the city. When a place has events like this it cultivates local pride, giving citizens a sense of belonging, and pushing them to participate in civic life. It’s so so important to enjoy life and have fun with your neighbors
Philly, I’m so proud of you.
Of course I’m gutted that I’ll miss it, but I’m so glad there will be an abridged show focused on the local artists. This city is so dang resilient, I love it.
Awesome work OEM & planners to make it eventually happen, despite the many obstacles
🎆 Now that threat of severe weather has passed, the show will continue with @theroots and a grand fireworks finale.
The public are invited to come back and begin queuing up for re-entry into the concert perimeter.
We thank everyone for their patience while the storm passed.
